The Boxing thread

The only surprise from the DDD fight is that it was clear as day it was coming.... too many kids not putting in the hard rounds within the amateur ranks firstly, then expecting to just walk through units like Joyce who are conditioned to the tilt... Joyce may look sluggish and resemble a fighter who doesn’t have gears but he is as fit as they come and versed on the art...

Joyce's Manager Sam Jones comes across as a spivvy little runt but knows his stuff.
Told anyone who'd listen that Joyce would beat Dubois up and stop him. Urged everyone to get on at 3/1. Wish I'd listened LOL.

Having slept on it I think a broken eye socket probably was a good enough reason to quit. The punch that he eventually succumbed to shook him to his bones and he was in no position to go win the fight from there.

That said, he's got much bigger problems than whether or not he's a quitter. 1- Eye sockets are not easy to recover from, ask Kell. 2- His lack of head movement. 3- He literally got jabbed to quit. His face was a mess from being jabbed. I know Joyce is heavy handed but he didn't throw a shot in anger all fight. Even in the second round you could see Dubois' face getting messed up. 4- His power might not hold up against the real big boys. He's got a long, long way to go.

As for Joyce, the Usyk fight will be a cracker but he'll have to think up a different strategy as there's no way Usyk will let him jab him to death.

Does anyone know what the shots thrown to landed ratio was for Joyce? Honestly felt like it was 80%.

Very interesting podcast as usual from Bunce and Costello. They both said from ringside they visibly saw and heard the pain that Dubois was in and that the very first jab from Joyce after 6 seconds rocked Dubois. They said even after 2 rounds he was noticeably shook up, breathing heavy and his face was getting mashed up. Regardless of anything else that happened you have to really doubt his punch resistance if he is getting so bust up off a jab. Joyce even said that he'd been planning to throw combinations and try to land the right hand but very early on he just thought there was no point considering the damage the jab was doing. He's got no business getting in with the big guys and big punchers if a jab from Joyce can cause so much damage.

The light heavyweight final was great telly, I know Bolotniks called out Yarde but I fancy Lyndon Arthur to beat him on Saturday so the Buatsi fight would be an interesting one.

Clear winner in the featherweights I actually fancied an upset win from Ryan Walsh but Jazza boxed really well think his amateur pedigree shone through.

On a side note, I've found this past week really depressing for the amount of ex boxers spreading anti vaxxer rubbish all over their social media.

Not sure what I can take from that win, hope they aren't trying to sell it as a big win. Murray was thinking about retiring long before the fight was announced. It was about getting BJS a fight before the end of the year to keep him active, which is fair enough. Although I have to say, his resume is looking very light to say how long he's been around at middleweight and super middleweight more recently.

I honestly think a peak Saunders is talented enough to outclass any boxer in the division however he's a massive wanker who's rightly been blacklisted by the boxing world. Never seen such a wasted talent in boxing. Had ability to match Cazaghe but has a fart for a brain. He's mixing with dodgy circles outside of boxing and think the PED's are rife in associated camps.

Yarde will surely think again when he watches it. At best, for him, an extremely narrow win. More likely he will realise it was the right result.

Manchester, na na na
Once again the bought and paid for biased commentators and pundits get it wrong.
Woodhall is a bare faced crook and needs to be put out to grass, he is Frank Warren’s stooge and house bitch
