The Boxing thread

Good performance by AJ but I feel he is too static to deal with Fury. Should be great to see such a big unification though.

The amount of disrespect AJ gets is ridiculous. He got smashed on the temple when getting sloppy going for the kill and all of a sudden his whole career and every fight is scrutinized more than any other fighter on the planet. 18 months post first defeat and he's done everything right - got his belts back, slimmed down, beat two top ten opponents and added a few boxing skills to hi repertoire.

I'm sure 80% reckon Fury beats him and I do too probably but there's no need for all this disrespect he gets after every fight regardless of result.

Pulev is a weird one. Seems like a good guy but he's acted like a proper bellend these last couple of days and he got smashed.

Boxing needs to follow the UFC and have one promoter and one belt.

We want the big fights, not boring mandataries like that tonight.
Top UFC guys gets paid poorly compared to boxers though, IIRC. That's the flipside.

Joshua makes himself out to be 'Mr.Goodguy' all the time when he's far from it, His true colours come out when he's wound up, Look at him when Pulev was mouthing off, Jarrell Miller too...The real Joshua came out then. Imagine what he would be like in the build up to the Tyson Fury fight, Fury would have him mentally beaten before a bell is even rung.
Parker, Ruiz x2, Pulev all those performances nowhere near getting close to Fury.
Joshua brings disrespect upon himself because he's a ****.

Depends what you mean by disrespect, I want whoever's British to win. Like tonight I was 100% AJ. But if it's a British unification then just like you, I think Fury will smash him.

Pulev isn't a bum but he's someone who should have been dealt with a lot sooner, just like Fury, who should have dealt with Wallin a lot sooner.

I don't necessarily see AJ as a world class heavyweight, he's not a Lennox. Whereas Fury I think could fit in the heavyweight division, no matter what era. I haven't really seen any disrespect in this thread that isnt justified

Are you serious? Loads of fighters are like this. AJ walked out to the scales yesterday and Pulev's team are booing and then Pulev starts trying to goad him shouting stuff. Any heavyweight boxer would have given it Pulev back. You must hate Fury, Haye, Froch, Chisora, Whyte etc....

To be fair that Jarrell Miller was a proper knobhead

I don't think AJ is in the same breath as Lennox etc but I don't care, they're all retired. There is one man in this era better than Joshua and I hope they fight next to settle it once and for all.

Why does Joshua have to take him out in a couple of rounds for it to be a good performance? Having not boxed for a year he needed the rounds. He smashed him in the 3rd round and took him out in the 9th after fully controlling the fight. He was toying with him and enjoying himself and then finished it with some spectacular upper cuts and a beautiful finish.

I thought Joshua was solid enough tonight, if a little heavy breathing after 4-5 rounds, maybe needs a bit more conditioning. First fight back though.

Want to see Joshua v Fury whilst it's still a meaningful contest. I'd have more respect for Joshua to take it and lose than dodge it and try and save a record which was smashed by Ruiz. The stat padding is worthless now so just give us the fights, go toe and toe and become an icon for taking it on.

He looked really sharp after 12 months out. I'm with you on betting on Fury though, he doesn't have the power of AJ, but his actual boxing is magic. Gutted he's a United fan!
Likewise, but it's up there with being gutted Ian Brown is a United fan and an absolute crackpot. Still like the guy,

I don't understand how you can hate Joshua for those reasons but be a fan of the known drug cheating, sexist, homophobic, antisemitic, exploits his own mental illness for marketing, United supporting Fury? (I don't personally mind Fury just to add)

Seems a bit weird?

That goes on all the time in boxing especially before fights at weigh ins, Fighters mouth off all the time yet that bellend sits their 'I like everyone I respect everyone' bla bla bla the usual shit he spouts until someone says something he doesn't like, At least the rest of them like Chisora, Whyte act the same all the time...Joshua is a false **** always was and always will be.

B+ performance for me, regained a bit of the killer instinct after the gun shy win against Ruiz ( understandably) so fair play for that.
Wtf was Pulev all about tho,his defence made Arturo Gatti look like Pernell Whitaker. He is known for not taking a backward step but tonight was beyond stupid.
On the Fury Joshua predictions I would guess a fit and mentally tuned Fury would win comfortably.
