Age caught up with Povetkin, decent pay day awaits Whyte again, he'll need to fight again though before he gets anywhere near AJ and Fury, that's going to at least two fights until the end of the year.

I think Hearn is a dodgy **** but not sure you can blame him for Ruiz turning up for that fight looking in horrendous shape
 
I like Dillian, he's a great fighter..

Such a shame he's not yet been given the opportunity to date to fight for the world title..

A 1000 days as the WBC mandatory challenger is a disgrace, this guy deserves his heavyweight world title shot..

He's never in a bad fight and he has fought some serious fighters..

His record is up there with anyone's in the division and I hope he gets his shot and doesn't get fucked over by Hearn..

Not taking anything away from Whyte he boxed really well...
But from Povetkin walk about something didnt look right it's like he was drunk...Especially in round one stumbling over his feet twice when not even being hit.
 
If you compare Whyte to the heavyweights today, he's definitely in the mix.

For me there's not one stand out heavyweight in this era.

Joshua has his limitations and has been knocked out by Ruiz who before being matched with Joshua was pretty much unknown..

Ruiz was seen as a warm up fight, a fight to keep the coffers ticking over..

Joshua was knocked down by an aging Klitschko and was buzzed and pretty much out on his feet against Whyte..

Fury in his early years was regularly put on the canvas and again his fight record is littered with names you'd struggle to remember..

He beat Wilder, twice in my opinion, which was by far and away his best result..

Wilder, amassed a 40 and 0 recorded by fighting boxers, many of who's names are, without being disrespectful, unrecognisable..

The only fights he's had against opponents that could cause him trouble were Ortiz (twice) and Fury (twice).

He Won 2, drew 1 and lost 1.

He was extremely lucky not to have lost at least 3 of those..

The heavyweight division is becoming a bit of a carve up between Joshua and Fury with a 2 fight deal agreed between them which pretty much means fighters like Whyte won't get a look in at fighting for the HW championship for at least a couple of years..

I described Whyte as a great fighter because when you look at what's currently out there in the HW division, it's not out of place calling him that..

He reminds me of Earnie Shavers, Ken Norton and Tim Witherspoon..

You could say all these 3 were on the periphery of being the stand out boxers of their time and all of them were great fighters in my opinion..

Whyte by definition is a great fighter, he's an exciting fighter, he's never in a bad fight..

He reminds me of the fighters back in the 70's and 80's (above) who were great in their own right but we're somewhat overshadowed by Ali, Foreman and Frazier..

Whyte has ducked nobody and has had to face some tough opponents in his last fights such as Browne, Rivas, Parker and Provetkin (twice) just to remain the number 1 contender for the belts.

Whyte's not the greatest fighter ever to step into the ring but he certainly wouldn't look out of place in this current crop of fighters if he were to be crowned the HW world champion..

And there is the problem, whyte with his ability should be nowhere near being at the top, it's a very poor heavyweight division

I went to see Hatton a few times - once vs an Irish man at the arena called Maghee. Once in Vegas against a Mexican and then a boring fight at the Etihad. Has a great career. Best night of boxing I ever saw live was Calzaghe vs Lacey. Prefer watching on tv to be honest due to the amount of coke heads when watching it live.

Mrs Onholiday bought us floor seats for that fight and had a great night (although she was dozing well before the main event kicked off). From memory, we could have sold them on for a good few grand in the days leading up to it but resisted the temptation even though we didn't have a lot of money............
