The Boxing thread

He was always up against it tonight, wrong side of 30 and had a lot of tough fights

proud man
Gutted for him

Frampton was done after the first knockdown, you could see in his eyes right there that he knew he had nothing left in the tank except his fighting pride. Good corner work to end it when they did, he was taking some heavy shots.
He’s had a good career but it has to be said that one less opportunity for the Kinahans to launder their drug money through boxing has to be good for the sport

Herring was too big, too long and too precise - didn’t miss a shot. I thought just before the first knockdown Frampton was starting to get on top, he caught Herring with two really good left hooks to the body which really hurt him. Frampton put his foot on the gas knowing that was his chance but walked on to a beauty and that was that. Two top people and careers but last night was definitely a step too far for Frampton

MTK global managed both boxers at a fight in Dubai. Seems like it's the Kinahans or Eddie Hearn if you want a fight promoted. Am waiting for a Marvin Herbert/Darren Gee fight to be up next :-)

Now now; you'd want to be careful what you say about those nice Kinahans!

Looked a bit washed up. Couldn’t believe difference in size though, like man v boy.

I think last night was the very epitome of the old boxing adage that a good big 'un will always beat a good little 'un. Dont think there was that much between them apart from the size advantage and that was enough

Wonder what the weight difference was on the night. Couldn’t believe how much bigger he was. Mind you, I was steaming. Might have been less than I thought!

He’s probably promoting the forthcoming bare knuckle scrap between Paddy Doherty’s son and that Joyce fella with the new teeth

Carl Frampton what a fighter over all. I remember his days at the high preformance gym and the Irish nationals. I put it way back in this tread that he be a World Champion you just knew he had the style and power for the pros. What a way to go out a 2 weight world champion. Highly respected within the boxing world and everywhere.

His best time was with Shane and Barry. Shane got the best out of him. Once he left Shane it was just like the spark was gone his love for boxing was ebbing away. He made a shit load of money he can retire knowing he and his family are set for the remainer of his life. Can see him staying involved within boxing in 1 way or the other.

The lad rarely turned down a fight. Even going into the back yards of Quigg and winning a World title there. His fight with Santa Cruz 1 was a amazing fight. Shame we never got the decider but he is going out on his own terms. Very emotional in his final interview. You could see in the Warrington fight he just didnt have much. No disrespect to Josh but Frampton peak would of had Josh.

Scoring was a disgrace. Great scrap, partly ruined. Without her eye being so bad from a clash of heads Bridges might have won that.

Anyway, Sav Marshall next. Honestly think she could end up being the greatest female boxer in history by the time she retires.
