Your right well off international level. His defeat to Patera was damaging. He shouldn't of been awarded the points win over Vazquez either and tonight he got schooled.
Massive decions in the next few months for him to see what he does from here.
He looked like a real banger domestically but his power didn’t translate at all when he stepped up to world level and tried himself against some proper granite chins

Exactly. He was knocking his opponents out for fun at domestic level within 1-3 rounds. Maybe he took the step up too early, Easy saying that now with three way things have planned out for him. He's obviously way off at international level but one thing that does disappoint me maybe I'm being picky but the geordie fans at his fights never give him a lift when he is under pressure in his international fights they have been really subdued especially tonight give the lad a boost from the stands ffs
Or maybe I've been watching too much of Hatton with the support he had it was sensational fans always trying to give him that extra get go when he gets under pressure in fights, Ritson could of done with that tonight. If it would of helped who knows just would of been nice to hear he had backing.

The ref obviously thought the towel going in was premature and decided Ritson was good to carry on, which right or wrong, the ref is within his rights to use his own discretion and only he can decide when to stop the fight.
The trainer could enter the ring in order to get the fight stopped as this would result in disqualification for his fighter.

For Ritson if he fights on and he can win a European title it be good going. Maybe he needs to add a new voice to his team. Might be able to offer a fresh opinion. I would guess Eddie Hearn be looking at him thinking got beaten twice what do you bring to the table now. At elite or close to elite not good enough. I could see maybe a move or promotional teams for him soon.
I can see Hearn maybe doing Ritson v Tyrone McKenna both coming off defeats see who wants it the most between them and the winner lined up for a European title fight.

Bizarrely, I didn't realise that.

I assumed that once the corner had thrown the towel in, it's an automatic end once spotted by the ref on grounds of safety.

Every day's a school day........

Lomachenko was great last night and it looks like Lopez has now been shamed into giving him the renatch . Can’t wait for it .
I love that instantaneous pivot that he does once he's hit the opponent (which leaves him practically skin tight to them) to continue the barrage whilst they are not far off back turned to him.

Tremendous fighter..........

Dalton Smith is the one to keep an eye on in this division

Looks like Frazer Clarke and Luke McCormack got a pretty tough draw yesterday, other than that looking pretty decent for some team GB medals. Whittaker will be disappointing to see anything less than bronze and Pat McCormack too.

That stoppage tonight was a farce. Same ref that watched Ritson getting battered round after round and threw the towel out of the ring decided to stop that tonight.
Complete joke.

My old mate Frazer beat the big Ukrainian early this morning, faces the French super heavy at the weekend in a 50/50 fight. Fraze hits harder and has more experience but the French lad is fairly quick for a super heavy.
Quarter finals of the boxing coming up next so they are fighting for the medals shake-up. Team GB still has some great medal chances and Pat McCormack must be a strong favourite for the gold at Welterweight.
Good interview with Big Frazer here, the lad has paid his dues and I’ll be absolutely delighted if he comes home with a medal

Me too mate, not had chance to watch the fight back yet because of the timing but will catch up tonight.

I am gutted for Charley Davison looking at twitter sounds like a knockdown wasnt ruled in the last round and she got beat on points, her first fight was incredible and her story too (7 years out to have 3 kids) makes it more remarkable!

I felt Cheavon Clarke was a little bit hard done by but maybe just biased eyes. Also Galal Yafai probably best GB performance so far.

Yeah both were unlucky.
Ireland have a couple of live medal chances as well, Kurt Walker beat the number one seed in the feathers and Aidan Walsh in the welters, though Pat McCormack probably beats him if they meet. Kellie Harrington in the women’s lightweight beat GB’s Caroline Dubois fairly handily not long ago
