The Boxing thread

Usyk was never in the frame as he always stated that he wouldn’t fight until 2023 as he needed time for whatever reasons and as for Joshua who is still a massive name in the division I don’t think it’s that simple as just putting pen to paper on a piece of paper as this would be one of the biggest bouts in British history and would you really want that fight in December with hardly any build up or would you want to stage it in the summer with a massive round the world tour etc. Tyson fury already knew this both fighters but still calls them both shite for not fighting him i fact he we says to usyk anytime anywhere in the ring and says he can’t because he has ti have surgery ha . Fury has lost a lot of respect from the professional boxing circle after that panto on Saturday night .

Fury knows his name sells and a deserving challenger in Del boy, got a decent pay out before he retires. He's lost no respect, they no why he fought Del Boy and good on him.

Furys next fight has to be 1 of Usyk or Joe Joyce if Usyk aint ready in March do that fight summer time its the fight everyone wants. AJ v Fury can still happen AJ needs to get a few wins under his belt. 1 more lost for AJ and its early retirement for me.

A deserving challenger in Del Boy ha cmon mate you know that’s crap I mean he is that credible he has lost 13 times .

Boxing has become a bit of a panto in general now hasn’t it. Ludicrous some of the resent bouts/comebacks.

Perhaps for tax reasons.?
I know that other countries have a fiscal year that starts and ends as the calendar ie Jan to Dec.
Also if there is a tax treaty between his country and the country he earns his money in then all his worldwide earnings will be taxed in the country he spends 6 months or more within.

He's be in some of the best scraps over the last decade in the toughest sport, so he deserves every penny he can make.
David Price had 6 losses and Audley Harrison lost 7. Chisora ended Price's career and Price flattened Harrison and Chisora gave Usyk a harder fight than AJ did. He beat Takam in 8rds, compared to AJ'S 10.

Why, are you putting a big wedge on AJs next opponent?
He has to be in a keep busy fight next. Eddie Hearn aint nobodies fool. He will match him with a winnable fight a no risk fight to get him going again. Well I would be going for either of these fighters if Hearn matched AJ with Joe Joyce or Wilder I would be putting my money on them. I think he needs a test maybe a rematch with Dillan Whyte might make sense easy to make but a risky test for AJ.

I thought the fight was against Hearn and Warren's wishes? If Warren was in control Fury would not have lost the belt to Usyk.

I dont think you can keep AJ and Whyte apart its a rematch that makes sense in a lot of ways and should happenin 2023 for me. Only time will tell. AJ will be question if he fights someone outside the top 10 so you got to get him someone on the way out to build up his confidence.

Anyone watch the Warrington fight?

Entertaining, and probably the right decision.

Warrington loves jumping in with his head, he wants to fight close up but then punches like he's at distance. Must have caught Lopez on the back of the head 7 or 8 times.

Yeah right decision

Anyone watching this fight on Sky now? The guy Gibbs's gumshield has come out about 6 times already, he's had three points took off him already for it. I've never seen anything like it.

I think 1985-1989 Mike Tyson would wipe the floor with every heavyweight that came after that period of time.

There have been better heavyweight boxers than Tyson, but there’s a case to be made that nobody who has ever fought at heavyweight would beat 1980s Tyson. He was 20 year’s old and had hard experienced heavyweights shitting themselves just seeing him walking into the ring. He was a fucking animal!

Tyson lost his edge and a bit of fear factor in the 90s, but even 90s Tyson would still beat every heavyweight around today.
People should remember that when Tyson fought at his peak, nobody was debating whether he'd win or not. It was about whether his opponent would survive or not.
