The Boxing thread

Just like when people belittle Elon Musk or Jose Mourinho, you can’t argue with Tyson Fury’s boxing record. He’s beaten everyone they put in front of him.

Agreeing to fight Usyk is not ducking a fight. He’s clearly suffered a bad injury and it’ll be rescheduled.
Hes also ducked plenty to or wouldnt sign cos timing, contracts werent right for him, hes suffered an injury but the timing is very convenient for him wouldnt u say? To be sparring a couple of weeks out with no headgear is criminally negligent

apparently this is the injury, possibly elbow on follow through who knows

I retract what i said, wearing head gear , maybe just a freak accident, see when the reschedule is

Agree completely on the gloves are off show, he was completely different than usual

Just seems a stretch I think with the cut and the swelling to think it was on purpose but who knows

I just can’t believe he’s scared of Usyk who wasn’t even a concussive puncher at cruiserweight and was pushed all the way by Chisorsa at Heavyweight
He’s been in with Wlad and Wilder and plenty of other fighters who hit much harder than Usyk but I do believe he’s looking more worried about this fight than any other
Maybe he’s just shot and he can’t get his shots of in the gym and knows he can be outboxed by someone as skilful as Usyk

Maybe scared of a loss more than the actual fighter

Tyson took too much time out from boxing for me, When the Ngannou fight happened he was so unfit and took the fight as a WWE show fight and a NO lose fight because he underestimated Ngannou, You could see in the gloves are off video something was not right and Tyson looked like a worried man, there was no over-hyping or showboating it was not him,

Look he would not be the first boxer to duck a fight with a cut or fake injury, maybe because he is way off the pace and the training camp and trainer called him out because he was facing being beaten,

will be very interesting this weekend on social media and youtube, Eddie Hearn will be all over Tyson and calling him a dodgy ball

Eddie Hearn can’t really talk when his own fighter is just as bad. They should have all been forced to fight each other like they do in the UFC years ago

all it would take is a punch if you have done a little nick to the eyelid before the training session,
also, that cut looks far too deep when using headgear to stop the thumb going into the eye

Clearly, the bloke isn’t prone to bullshit and hasn’t postponed loads of fights before. Tyson has beaten one great boxer who was about 38 in one of the most boring fights ever. He’s also beat one of the biggest punchers ever a couple of times. A bloke who aside from his power looks like he’s never worn a pair of boxing gloves before.

Fair play to Furey he’s world champion and smashed it out of the park financially. Hardly a haul of fame type record though is it once you look beyond the pantomime?

I like Tyson Fury, and I always have since I watched him in his days boxing at Wythenshawe Forum. He is a big, mobile, skilled fighter with a huge heart. He has accomplished more than nearly anyone will ever dream of achieving. He has also shared some daft stuff over the years, and not had as many fights as he could have had.

Anyone condemning him really needs to think a little deeper about the challenge of just getting through each month with bi-polar, never mind being a world champion. A couple of my family are diagnosed with it and the endless cycle of two weeks of 'normality', one week hyper, one week crash, every, single month is utterly exhausting. Every month, veering from the prospect of life-changing decisions to barely being able to get out of bed. It is incredibly difficult to be around, so his camp must find it a challenge, but to continue day in and day out under such conditions needs celebrating, not condemning, nor insinuating, as many have done here.

No surprise from Fury, many called this postponement when the fight was announced. The man's a sham. Wouldn't be at all surprised if this fight didnt happen at all.

Came out with the bi polar after getting caught drug cheating or was it the nasty derisory remarks. I can't recall which??

Irritating that people pay so much credence to that fight with Ngannou, where Fury most definitely underestimated him and hadn’t put the requisite work in, he was just collecting a pay cheque.

Fury will have been ready for this Usyk fight, he’s not as daft as he acts, that’s why he’s been keeping quiet, you can see it in the selfie he did that he looks like he’s lost weight and got himself ready. Every time people think he’s lost it he comes back and proves everyone wrong, he would have done it again against Usyk, I have no doubt about that.

Bloody shame, as was looking forward to it.

I guess you believe that he doesn't have bi-polar then. The members of my family who have it have spent their lives making rash decisions (pre-diagnosis), caused chaos for others, cause financial ruin for themselves, offended members of the family, and have been very difficult to be around at certain times. Described as moody, unfeeling, and uncaring, only their intelligence and ability has saved them from themselves. The relief of diagnosis and the greater understanding that it has brought has been a tremendous relied. I can understand Tyson acting like a complete pillock, at times. I can understand that he will have done stupid things. I can also see how bipolar will have been at the heart of it.

People acting like it's some kind of 'gotcha' on Fury is ridiculous if you've seen the cut, it's unfortunate and he will be as pissed off as anyone I would imagine, I hope he doesn't go off the boiler again because realistically he isn't sparring properly for a while

The cut looks a deep cut too. If the money ain't right this fight won't happen until next year. The Saudis are paying huge sums to both guys they won't let this fight happen anywhere bar Saudi in my opinion.

He was under the cloud of the ban and was also used it as an excuse for taking cocaine.

It was all very Kerry Katona. Paris talked about mood swings in the documentary, which makes you think....

Great post.

A mate of mine met him in The Hesketh in Cheadle Hulme when he was going through his sabbatical away from boxing and he was at his lowest point.
A big , friendly giant is how he described him.
