The Boxing thread

Great night for boxing and a what a fight from bud . Thought before the fight that the weight would be too much and it would be another vegas stitch up but fucking get in .
 
While I agree Crawford is a technical great fighter I feel boxing has lost that aura the last 10 years.
I don't feel it was a great fight,the whole event wasn't nothing special.
The whole waiting 30 minutes between fights.
The undercards are always really poor.
Ufc is a much better combat sport to watch these days.
A regular UFC fight night is much more entertaining than a title fight in boxing and that's something I thought I would never say.

Still annoyed over the the first golovkin fight so I’m happy that canelo got beat but 115-113 WTF is that about it was way wider .

Poor undercard? did you see Mbili v Martinez?
 
On Crawford technical masterpiece. People saying it wasn't in the top 30 fights what do you expect Crawford to do jumping up those weights have a toe to toe fight with Canelo. He can now retire up there with the best elite fighters if he wants. Who else can he physically fight after Canelo??
 
Love this - so much of the hard work that goes unseen; pounding the streets, the rope work. Robinson with such power and speed; deadly combination; Ali letting it all out as he goes for the kill. Marciano was the American dream - a white heavyweight champion. 3 fistic legends 2 of whom are rightly considered the greatest of all - it just depends who you ask.

Marciano was the immovable force, for me he edges the best heavyweight tag just for his guts and never a backward step.

An absolute legend of the ring but, for me, Ali is best ever heavyweight by dint of the sheer quality he faced.
Marciano never fought anything like the calibre Ali fought: Frazier, Foreman, Shavers (“Ernie punched me in the jaw and broke my ankle”), Liston, Norton - all would make top twenty greatest heavyweights of all time and he faced and best them all. The second string guys he best were all top notch no tomato cans: Cooper Bugner Chivalo Quarry etc. and he won Olympic gold (at light heavyweight) World chanpion at 22.

I’d also put Joe Louis above Marciano.
All great fighters though

I remember watching the fights with Ali and what a competitor, lots of genuinely big hitters in his victim list. My Marciano opinion is based mainly on his record and watching his fights on you tube,

One downside is he looked like Lou Costello ;-)

Well there's only person to support after that press conference as Conor Benn comes out in a city shirt and eubank talks all over Eddie hearn when speaking about ricky hatton. When you're the biggest arsehole in a room with Eddie Hearn in then you need to take a good look at yourself.
