Fair play to Frampton he's always been happy to travel, and is prepared to fight anyone, similar to Khan. I think he beats Selby at 126 and 'maybe' Santa Cruz. However, Lomachenko & Russell Jnr would both be far too strong for Carl and imo would stop him early.
Can't see GGG having any problems tonight, the number one IBF challenger Tureano Johnson pulled out with a shoulder injury. Wade is the next highest ranked contender. Golovkin is 6 wins short of beating Hopkins record of middleweight title defences, currently 20 (including one no contest)
Bout 3am I reckon Zim.What time is GGG due out?
Bout 3am I reckon Zim.
I think the move up in weight is needed. He only had a half a tank against Quigg in a fight that was very low intensity for 6 rounds. So maybe the move up does him good. Santa Cruz is beatable, although I have him as favourite over Frampton.Frampton will always take on anyone. Santa Cruz boxed Kiko Marthinez and I would be interested to see what he thinks as he has boxed both. He stated that Carl would beat Quigg and was right. I think Carl has every chance. He will move up a weight and he looked drained in his last 2 fights. So this fight might well see a more powerful Carl as he can take the fight to Santa Cruz it all depends on if Carls power can move up and KO people. Carl is lucky with the link up with Al Haymon he could finish his fighting out in the US and I fully expect him and Santa Cruz both will get really well paid.
He needs to fight someone real now though. I really rate him but he needs to go up a level now. He might as well have been fighting Dwayne Wade last night.
No matter what GGG is the best pound for pound fighter. Sooner he fights Canelo and that be a fight i cant wait to see. The best puncher in the business.
Santa Cruz as you said is beatable he isnt a monster in the division he has weakness and Carls gameplan can change. He has shown he can KO people he has shown he can box and get a decision so its a interesting fight. Always rated the guy and the link up with Al Haymon is great for him as he will make enough money. And more and more fights will be made for Carl in the US in the future.
Frampton was extremely lucky after the Gonzales fight to still have a deal with Haymon..the performance was dire, if not gutsy...he'll need to put a show on in New York to ping interest, as internationally, he's not very desirable..
Definitely. Paulie Malignaggi has been comparing GGG to Kell Brook in the sense that nobody knows how good he can be because he is stuck fighting mandatories and I agree with him. I'd stop short of calling GGG p4p1 like Leighton has purely because he hasn't beaten anybody of distinction yet. These mandatory fights need addressing, to many match ups with fighters who are levels apart. Conelo, Cotto, BJS, Jacob's & CEJ all in the mix at 160.
Joshua vs Breazeale announced. Not gonna lie I've watched him fight twice, vs Kassi and Mansour (who dropped him and was up on the cards before he got stopped) and he really doesnt look up to much. I guess its just to raise interest in the US more than anything
