A few people have genuinely lost their minds

I wouldn’t read too much into that. When he says event, I took it as being an event, a show, an occasion… FA Cup final, Last Night of the Proms, Jools Holland’s New Year’s Eve Hootenanny are all events… I don’t think he’s thinking that Russia’s invasion of Ukraine is an event.

I find statements like the Speaker said frightening and when they are said it makes me very anti royal.

A war literally on the doorstep, in which dozens of young lives will be lost during this funeral service alone and this fool comes out with a crass statement like that.

Yes agree I do find her comment odd just trying to see it from her point of. I wouldnt queue up to see a coffin, but a fair few have.

They see a lot of people waiting in line to look at something & they think "if I dont join that lot I might miss out" very much like the loo roll shortage in lock down, a lot of people panic buying loo rolls were only doing it because they saw other people doing it,
Its exactly how the old market traders used to drum up trade, get some mates to form a que at your stall & all of a sudden people think there must be something good, I better get in line otherwise I might miss out,

Well for a start they ain't serfs they're free people, the difference being those that filed past the Queens coffin did it because they wanted to it may or may not have enriched their lives I don't know, if it happened in North Korea it would be because they're forced to.If some people can't see that it's them who are fucked up i'm afraid.

Well said - the need for some to go out of their way to post such negative stuff is really what is weird IMO.

It is not difficult to avoid the thread or the TV coverage - seems some form of unnecessary 'look at me'

Wow impressed by the results of a poll that essentially is just football fans. I thought they were hated much more than that!

Still, the royal family are becoming less of a thing and more of a token, I am sure we will keep them in some capacity.

in my opinion this website doesn’t really represent the whole population and has far more people who are likely to be against the monarchy than the whole country.

The fact the vote has come down on the side of the monarchy shows how far away republicanism is from getting anywhere near close to being a serious possibility.

I dont seen us ever becoming a republic.. Maybe we will, though I dont see the benefit, sort of like Brexit, an existential thing?

The monarchy is going nowhere fast, certain people might have been licking their lips but this has shown that their excitement is premature and they will have to wait a considerable time for their money shot.
