The British Monarchy

Bit OTT putting anything before your kids IMHO.

That’s mass hysteria for you. You get these odd people scrambling to one up the last sycophant. Hoyle's comments were the same thing.

Quite sad really, I'm not sure Queenie herself would have wanted these embarrassing remarks as a tribute.

Having lived through most of Elizabeth's reign I can state I am immensely proud of how this Country have handled the passing of our Queen.
As you get older history seems to be more relevant as you increasingly look backward not forwards.
We are a small Country but our history ,our model of a constitutional monarchy are for me something to be very proud of.
I do not want this Country to dissolve into some republican non entity. I do not want us to become Luxembourg .
Sadly many sneer at duty, at patriotism , at service ,at pride in our nations long history including its laws and traditions. For many it is popular and 'edgy' to be cynical of anything good or great and to drag it down into the gutter .
I actually feel sorry for them as they have nothing to raise them up just a dreary pessimistic outlook on life.
That's my tuppenth anyway.
Don’t you live in florida or somewhere like that?
Apologies if thinking of someone else.

If people would just admit they like the pomp, and not the curtseying knee bits, a good day out sort of thing.

But placing anyone above your children is just odd mate.

48.2% on here - tranlates to 88% in the real world.
I’d say it’s reasonably representative.
Gut feeling is that half the population are monarchists, a quarter are republicans and a quarter either don’t know or don’t care. Half is more than enough to keep the institution going for the foreseeable future.
The don’t knows and don’t cares are probably under-represented in the poll because they’re not interested hence less likely to vote.

I'd say it isn't. In much the way recent polling on here has called it wrong too.

Someone will always get drunk and start kicking off there’s no buffet left
That was my fuckin wedding! The guests were like locusts, I had been busy glad handing and was assured there would be plenty left, there was literally fuck all! Not impressed.

I had a lovely walk with the dogs in Delamere Forest and a delightful mixed meze in a Lebanese cafe: I found three cafes open in my area and all were busy, and the roads were quiet, which was nice. I hope the day passed gracefully, peacefully and without incident and that Queen Elizabeth II's family were able to lay a loved one to rest. Best wishes to all here: monarchists, republicans and the ambivalent.

My money is on Eugenie kicking off after doing a load of shots, it's bound to be a free bar and a finger buffet with sausage on sticks and mini pork pies from Lidl. William and Harry will be doing that funeral classic of "love you, no Love you more" Charles will follow through after 12 pints of Bitter and Camila will fall over with her dress over head showing off her bloomers.

Is it a good idea to invite all of the Queen's children? One of them might get the wrong end of the stick...

I think if everyone was forced to vote, it would more likely be 75% for, 15% against and 10% don’t care either way, based on the reaction since the late Queen passed away.
