The British Monarchy

Much like leaving the EU wasn’t the answer to everyone’s issues, getting rid won’t have any positive impact on your life either.

That might be the case but is there a net benefit of having them? If they don't offer anything positive at all, why not get rid?

They do benefit.

While the royal family’s effect on the economy is difficult to quantify, it is widely thought to be considerable.

Brand Finance, which bills itself as the world’s leading brand valuation consultancy, estimated that the royals contributed 1.77 billion pounds ($1.95bn) to the UK economy in 2017 through a combination of the Crown Estate’s revenues and indirect benefits for tourism, trade, media and the arts.

I wonder how much megz and haz bring to the Californian economy?

It's like keeping horse buses on the grounds they're 'traditional'.

At one time, it was believed that the King was appointed by God and was his representative on earth. As such, his rule was justified. (Not that this stopped the 'nobility' from deposing and murdering certain kings they took a dislike to.)

No fucker believes that now, not even the people who still believe in God. To quote John Milton (more or less) the King is like a member of the family who is appointed to buy meat. No more, no less. It's a job. There's nothing sacred about it, and the very idea of hereditary power in the 21st Century is an abomination.

Watched his Christmas speech, which was worthy, but hypocritical.

Especially with the drone shot of his big palace.

He needs to put his money where his mouth is and give some serious wealth up.

Only then will what he said today have any meaning.
No doubt the Daily Mail will be labelling him as a champagne socialist next week.

They've always been hypocritical cunts mate. Making out that they're better than the rest of us. He has the cheek to pontificate about doing good when he and the rest of his freeloaders sit on stolen millions, take up acres and acres of land that could be apportioned to families that really need it and then hide away in ivory towers criminals; criminals that they protect with our hard-earned money.

They can all get to fuck.
