The changing face of Christmas

Long since got used to absence of Mum & Dad but this is my first Christmas without my big sis, it's rubbish.
My sister died 17 years ago and that put an end to family xmas for us. First year without my Ma and i must admit to having a 'moment' yesterday.
Luckily i have two beautiful grandkids that help fill the gap.

I’ve no stats to back this up. Just an observation, that I guess people aren’t spending any less at shops than they were 10, 15, 20 years ago. It’s the type of shop they spend at that’s changed. Big shopping centres and online shopping have virtually seen off small provincial shopping precincts.
Online shopping has certainly cost the small independent retailer a lot, but the out of town shopping centre opposite the office I work in would have had nowhere near the footfall of 2019 levels, if this was due to Amazon etc or the cost of living, rising energy bills etc, I couldn't say (probably a bit of both)

Well I’ve a 10 year old daughter now, so I’ve gone from building dolls houses and loading things with batteries, to downloading apps and updating new phones! The magic of Christmas!

Right there with you mate. Feel like I've lost a little girl and now have a complete teenager at 10. Gone in the blink of an eye!
