The Chants Against Foden's Mum

I couldn’t tell whether this affected Foden performance on Sunday……but the subsequent publicity is going to ensure it’s repeated at every away ground we play at.

To be fair, his mum’s behaviour hasn’t helped Foden…..she certainly hasn’t kept a low profile.

It still doesn’t make the abuse OK……but as has been said before on this thread, we have our own repertoire of songs aimed at the reds (and others) so we can’t be too precious.

Correct mate, Acknowledging it made it worse.

Foden wasn't arsed what people thought when he was PFA Player of the year or winning trebles! Gary Neville had horrific abuse of City and Liverpool fans, much worse than Foden! He reacted by goading them when he won, not letting them see he was bothered!

Foden is upset because he is having a bad season! If he would have scored the winner on Sunday this wouldn't even be a story!

Fan culture doesn't have to be insulting someone's mother. It's vile.
Is Jelly and Ice cream when fergie dies vile?
Is calling scousers victims vile?
Is calling Burnley fans inbred vile?
Is the 'Spurs are on there way to Belsen, Hitlers gunna gas them again' Vile?
Is Chelsea rent boys vile?
Is Roslers Grandad Bombed Old Trafford T-Shirts Vile?

If them chants upset Phil, then he is in the wrong job. All he has done is put a target on his back! I can imagine that United fans said a lot worse things when he scored a hat trick in our treble season. He wouldn't have give a shit then!

I agree, but it did affect him, he looked upset and Pep took him off.

But something has to be going on in the background with Phil. He's had that bandage on for over a year, he's recently moved house all of a sudden, rumours of a secret lovechild and other rumours of a stomach problem that might be limiting his physicality.

Who know? I'd take all of it with a pinch of salt, but he has gone from being the young future of City to someone who Kalvin P could have beat to the stating lineup.
I still wonder if he is suffering the after effects of the Covid bout he apparently had back in November time. It could still be debilitating him.

I disagree
I wouldnt wear colours but my kids have on recent visits to old toilet with no mither. I just presume that most people arent cunty

At wembley for the semi v sheff u, me and my then 9 year old daughter (fully decked out in city gear) walked past 3 sheff fans, clearly pissed up. One started doing the wanker sign, saying blue bastards of something.
I stopped, shook my head at him and reminded him im with my daughter.
His 2 mates bollocked him , apologised and pulled him away.

We dont have to condone arsehole behaviour

Just been talking about this, mates daughter & 12 year old grandson walking out with his Foden shirt on after the game, were subject to a barrage of abuse from the knuckle draggers, “is your mum a slag too” etc. and it wasn’t just one or two of the fuckwits either.
Then people ask why have rules become so tight, its because a certain minority of low-life scum who happen to be football fans ruin it for the rest of us. Like when a child at school is such a nuissance that they force the teacher to take a tougher approach which impacts the whole class.

If football fans behaved like rugby fans, we would be given much more freedom during matchday.
You would been fuming at Stoke away in 1998 when we went down pal! Low life scum everywhere that day!

Peasants!

He’s already said we carry on, doesn’t appear upset to me.

Totally agree, but my point is, as a dad myself, i wouldnt let my kids wear a city shirt outside an away game. You know there's a chance of trouble.
I took my daughter who was 5 to West Ham a few years back and she had a city shirt on. We walked the half hour back to the train station and not once did I feel the need to make her cover up.

West Ham fans when they saw her were asking her if she had a good time and everyone was letting us through and making space for her. When we got to the train station two old school hammers gave her some stickers and one gave her a programme. Good as gold as she still had the stickers to this day and talks about it.

My point is no kid should ever have to hide their allegiance at any ground.

Yeah, i was there in the stoke end. Left after 5 mins as we were about to get lynched.

Drove 5 miles away from the ground and walked into a pub, and old timers pub, stokies, to watch the game
They spotted we were blues and were civil enough, they said they didnt go themselves today as they knew itd be full of cunts

All this harking back and “you wouldnt habe liked it back in the day” is silly talk
Im glad its not like that anymore
When i was 10 in about 84, my dad used to take me and my pal. One week my pals mum stopped him coming with us because of the trouble, i was gutted.
Im glad its relatively trouble free in comparison these days for my kids

Nice. West Ham fans have always been top notch in my experience.

Most footballers do stop talking to their parents when they do well so kudos to Phil for acting like a erm.. son:-)

Betty Swallocks. Been going to our games since the late sixties and as a young guy before that I got married went to a fair few away games a season. I doubt very much that vile chants from morons upset many pro footballers. It's not whether the chants bother the players that's the problem imo. To me, it's more about what goes on in the heads of those who think it's ok with safety in numbers to shout what they like. Would any of these feral scumbags have the bottle to say this stuff face to face to Phil. Somehow I doubt it. Sweaty obese rag fan with a pie in one hand - would be wiped out by an elite athlete like Phil within seconds in a one-to-one scenario. Your list - judge for yourself the level of vileness.

I agree

Is Jelly and Ice cream when fergie dies vile? Maybe, definitely a bit poor taste.
Is calling scousers victims vile? No its a fucking fact and a joke they've made into something its not
Is calling Burnley fans inbred vile? No Every small Town in Lancashire says the same thing about the next town & Burnley in particular.
Is the 'Spurs are on there way to Belsen, Hitlers gunna gas them again' Vile? Definitely
Is Chelsea rent boys vile? No origins, are linked to prostitution not homophobia, Would a song for Ajax referencing hookers be considered vile?
Is Roslers Grandad Bombed Old Trafford T-Shirts Vile? No it was his Grandads mate or maybe countryman, so slightly inaccurate but not vile.

I can imagine that United fans said a lot worse things when he scored a hat trick in our treble season. He wouldn't have give a shit then! The only thing he should be upset by is how shite he's been this season. Whether that's his mums public image, lack of sleep due to his mrs popping kids out or underlying compliancy who knows but if he doesn't sort he's heading down the Stephen Ireland path. It definitely has fuck all to do with what those inbred deluded self entitled fucking cockwombling rag twats sing about him.

“Your mums a slag” isn’t exactly the most offensive chant in the footy songbook tbh
Correct.
I remember being at Goodison away end ,Kendalls first match after he joined us.
Neville Southall in their goal got dogs abuse....

" Neville where's your wife, Neville Neville where's your wife ?!!"

And " Does she take it up the arse,Mrs Southall"

Both chants sang loud and clear by a packed standing away crowd,i personally got abuse off home fans as I walked to ground just b4 k,o
So I was only too ready to join in the Neville chants, I saw it as letting off steam, and anybody who went to Everton in the 80s knows what I mean...a place you had to look after yourself.

But I always remember Southall, did not blink an eyelid,or show any response whatsoever to the chants, consummate professional, concentrating fully on the game......and kept a clean sheet. ,nil nil draw on a Sunday....sounds familiar...; )

Has Phil Foden actually said he was upset by the chant? I've missed that.
