The Co-op Live Arena

There's plenty of fantastic bands playing right across Manchester and further out for a fraction of that. Fuck the corporate greed. The best gigs I've been to have been 1000 strong crowd sweat boxes. Spotify has been life changing for me in discovering new acts. The days of spending ridiculous money to see an act are over for me.
I've got gigs at Gorilla, Rat & Pigeon (new one for me), Peer Hat, New Century and Albert Hall coming up in the next month. All good venues (rubbish bars at the Albert), all youngish artists.

Still not been to Co-op; seems to be for Old Dad Heritage rock. Tellingly, my 23 year old lad loves it.

I'll be trying something similar. Only thing is in the Morrissey thread it says he came on early for one of the dates as there was an issue with the support. And there seems to be huge queues in every picture I've seen of this venue, so it may be quite difficult to gauge.
Don’t leave it past 8.30 with him. Risky.

We missed 3 songs at the AO arena a good few years back when he decided to come on at 8.30pm for the first time in the times I had seen him.

Booze prices are ridiculous! Over £8.50 a pint from memory.

I was at that I think it was even earlier than that. It killed the whole gig for me.

Here we go again...

A lot complaining about the background screen and its sermon completely taking away what they were there for - the music. Thoughts?
Yeah, it was pretty much constant throughout. I don't think any part of the live stage performance featured on the main screen itself.

I focused on the stage and the side screens that were reserved for tight close-ups of the band. I only really found myself watching the main screen during jams at the end of some songs.

Thought the band sounded fantastic and the sound system was incredible and greatly impactful standing not far from the rail.

Gotta say it was far too heavy politically, with the massive telly taking over.
put my review in the gigs thread, i was interested to see what you had to say when i saw you said you were attending. Was that you smoking that massive bifter by the sound desk ;)

Wouldn’t it be a good idea to catch a tram going to Ashton (as I assume the queue is shorter?) and jump off at the first stop and then return on the next tram heading into town
I did that 2 times at the Move Festival at Lanza CC.
Got the near empty tram to Stretford and crossed over for the next tram heading into town
There are far less trams going to Ashton.

Most going that way are go that way are empty and go past the stadium to turn round and head to the city centre.

The stops either side of the ground aren't used for at least an hour after the game.

If you get the tram to Cayton Hall and get off after the game the next tram the other way is likely to be the same one after it has turned around at Ashton.

Rat & Pigeon was Mother Macs.

Does anyone know what they are like at the arena in respect to checking ID for youngsters. Drake is on and my daughter wants to go with her mate. They are 14. The website says anyone 14 or under needs to be with an adult. Just wondering if anyone’s kid/s has been and whether they are strict on checking ID’s.
