The Conservative Party

How can it still be an appropriate flag when it still has elements of a historic flag of a nation that has left the union(Ireland), and doesn't have any elements of a nation that remains in the union (Wales)?

A remnant of colonialism.

Time for a new flag me thinks.
Have you forgotten NI?

Did you have this one in mind? ;-)

Good to see people have been getting triggered by the Union flag since Wednesday.

In between the flag moaning there’s copy and paste jobs by unverified, random, anonymous Twitter accounts.

Marvellous stuff.
The union flag is for flying over public buildings, for sporting occasions and for national celebrations. Politicians using it as a prop hasn’t ever been a very British thing to do and is clearly being used by the current government for jingoistic purposes. If you want to try and shut down discussion by using provocative terms like people being triggered that’s up to you but it doesn’t mean it’s wrong to mention it. I’m proud of my country’s flag but I wouldn’t dream of having it flying outside my house or fastened to the wall of my living room to demonstrate my Britishness.

Of they’re trying to push the Union narrative at a time when it’s being attacked by a minority in Scotland?

You do realise it’s very common for this to happen around the world and other nations’ leaders have done it on video calls?

Just seems some don’t like the country and get offended by the flag.

I really don’t know why you felt the need for the last sentence of your post. It’s not true and you’re just shit stirring.

I don’t know why you think we have to copy other countries anyway.

The ulster banner's St George's cross is on the union flag, but they don't have an official flag anyway.
The red saltire is the flag of St Patrick, who is patron saint of the whole island of Ireland, so it is relevant to the Union flag now.

Wales’s dragon is only half a century old, it’s historical importance is lacking compared to the flag of St Patrick and why change the flag now? It’s one of the best around.

I read it all day every day on this forum. The same posters have been moaning about the Tory MP’s displaying our country’s flag since last week.

They talk the country down at all opportunities, slag off their fellow citizens by making sweeping generalisations against those that disagree with them. One called Britain a “regressive little shit hole”.

Need I go on?

I genuinely think they do dislike the country and any slight pride in the country has them moaning like a bunch of victims.

I know they ally with you on the anti Tory stuff but you don’t need to stick up for their fringe views.

I'd go as far to say if you felt the need to fly it outside your home or put it on the wall in your living room it would look more like you demonstrating your own insecurity towards your feeling British and feeling the need to reassure yourself of your patriotism in front of others for fear of being doubted. Most can live with their inner feelings and wave the flag on occasions like Royal Weddings.

You do realise that you’re making a sweeping generalisation whilst complaining about sweeping generalisations.
