At what point would it be unreasonable to you?Seems reasonable to me.
The point of it being free is because you aren’t working/more likely to need prescription.
People are working longer/living longer.
Sensible area to save some money to be spent elsewhere.
Of course we could just Chuck as much money as we can at everything and anything and let the national debt get worse and worse
Maybe start charging for GP consultations if you're under state pension age.
Maybe charge for hospital procedures, that'll cut waiting lists at a stroke.
Maybe charge for all "self-inflicted" conditions coming from obesity, lack of exercise, alcohol, or even punish people from having children when there's a risk of passing genetic conditions.
It's a scale and as soon as you accept reduced benefit then where is the line drawn.
The welfare state grew out of poverty and suffering for the poor working classes.
Start giving it away and who knows what will be next.
