The Conservative Party

Kuennsberg reports what backbenchers have told her about the 1922 committee meeting last night - Johnson looks weak, and losing grip, etc.

The "Culture" Secretary, Nadine Dorries sends (and quite quickly deletes) a tweet to her:
“Laura, I very much like and respect you, but we both know, that text is ridiculous. Although nowhere near as ridiculous as the person – obviously totally desperate for your attention – who sent it."

Rage vs "cancel culture", and then pretty much have a go at a journalist with the obvious intention of controlling her actions. I'm sure there are the odd example of govts controlling the news output...

If they have any sense they will vote for neither of them and get behind a push to completely rip up our current/broken Westminster shit show.

Party politics serves nobody well.

2 cheeks of the same arse hole.

If they have any sense they will vote for whoever is most likely to defeat the tories in their constituency (hopefully, a marginal), which is what I am most likely to do if living in same place at next election, despite having no love for the Libdems.

Plus this.

What do you propose to replace party politics with?

Are you a proponent of electoral reform and a change to a PR voting system?

Solves both your problems.

I don't agree with you that Labour are as bad as the Tories, but feel free to provide examples of the same scale that back it up.

If anyone is on universal credit and votes conservative they might as well take an advance payment, board a one-way flight and check into dignitas.

Even for purely selfish reasons it's better to vote Labour because they are always likely to create a "more generous" welfare system, e.g. Education Maintenance Allowance payments for college attendance were £30 quid a week before the Tories abolished them.
lol, when I was at college EMA was the only reason why most of us turned up.

I would have gone to college anyway but it was a good policy for keeping kids from poorer backgrounds (who could have dropped out just started working in retail or mcdonalds) in college and getting their vocational qualifications.

There were a few times that I pulled a sickie but you had to call into the reception and/or leave an electronic message on the system with reason. Think there was one time I didn't get my money because I claimed I had nausea and it might have come across as if I was actually hungover.

Whilst it's certainly true that over the years Labour MPs have broken rules on lots of things, in general they get sacked and slung out of the party if the rule breaking is serious enough. Tories in recent years, on the other hand, tend to get promoted whilst their colleagues endeavour to change the rules.
Always easy for people to say they're all the same when even a cursory analysis will show that it really isn't the case.
There's no real comparison.

Guess who gets hit the hardest by the proposed change? (m spoiler alert its not rich Southerners )

You will still have to sell your house as any asset has to be sold to fund the care up to the limit , the cap of course is a con , who guessed that would be the case ..

Its all about political choices and that's how these things work. Don't upset the base but look as though you are helping everyone. Considering the fact most of us are going to need some form of care in our later years the fairest way to do this would be taxation and those with the broadest shoulders and all that.
