The Conservative Party

I reckon there will be an 'agreement', similar to the one in Wales, between the LD and Labour and not a coalition. That is to say they will work on the many, many things they agree on. They will put up candidates in areas but not work very hard in areas where one has the advantage over the other - tactical voting. An anti-Tory vote.
Sounds sensible.

The Liberal Democrats are usually a little heady after a by-election victory, like the first glass of champagne, but Morgan was canny enough to acknowledge the assistance of Labour voters in her acceptance speech, so maybe there is some form of understanding afoot. However, even if they did collaborate more, it would still require help from Scotland to overturn a 70+ seat majority in 2024.
I just can’t see that happening. The Tories are the SNP’s chief recruitment officer. A resurgent, attractive Labour Party is certainly not in the SNP best interest. It will eat their lunch whilst diluting the independence push.

Oh, I agree. It’s certainly not in the SNP’s interest to do so. Far better for them to show that even electoral collaboration in England results in a Conservative/English government. Such a scenario could be academic in 2024, of course, but if it’s not, then the arithmetic could still put the SNP in a powerful position in 2025.

Tories hubris on show this morning.

They didn't lose the seat because of Boris. They lost it because it's a mid term election which is expected...

*Eye Roll*

I’d like to think that they maintain this level of complacency right through to the next GE.
It could wipe them out.

I often wonder why millionaires need an £85k a year job. To further their own interests I hear you say??! Absurd to think that. Give them some credit. They’re just trying to make the country a better place out of the goodness of their own hearts.
