I haven’t tried to defend Johnson or Cummings at all. As stated in numerous posts, I don’t like Johnson and I think Cumming should have been fired for his eye test nonsense as he was clearly a bullshitter. I’m also not claiming that all politicians are the same as they clearly aren’t, as Truss and Kwarteng are proving right now.

I’m simply arguing that if a senior politician like Rayner claims to be unable to recollect where they were on a particular night, and doesn’t want to set the record straight for weeks as to their whereabouts, then there’s probably a reason for such behaviour.

Haha! Fuck me, I never know where I was on a certain day and if you asked me where I was last night I’d struggle to answer!! There’s definitely a reason for my behaviour though but I’m not trying to run a country so should be ok.. :-)

Maybe it was a nothing event like dozens of others blown up out of all proportion by a complicit media. The fact Rayner was there made absolutely no difference so why would she bother covering it up if there was nothing to gain. It was clearly just a mistake by an aide.

The police have investigated the incident twice, the second time because of a media bandwagon.

Whether Rayner was there or not matters not a jot. No rules were broken.

You don’t have a gotcha moment, you’re pushing a dynamic that doesn’t exist.

What your motivations are for doing this, only you know.

The point is that Starmer and Rayner were placing extreme scrutiny on Johnson and other ministers as to who attended which events in Downing Street and when. Any attempt at obstruction was greeted with derision and ridicule.

When Labour were asked whether she was at the event with Starmer, they said she wasn’t, and she was somehow, for whatever reason, unable to remember that she was actually at the event for a number of weeks. Why did she lie about it if she was so confident that they’d done nothing wrong?
