You do make a good point in that the government have been asleep at the wheel and have prioritised protectionism instead of real policies. I do wonder if this is another one that was there to distract and went horribly wrong as they had no understanding of what the consequences were.
In any case, the damage has been done which will affect many of us, our children, and possibly grandchildren, for years to come.

So it isn’t or shouldn’t be a surprise that he said it. They’re all driven by fear. Fear of losing, giving up their place at the top. They know that in the U.K., with the infrastructure, policies, media and the general personality of the country all geared around hierarchy, the only way for social mobility and for the wealth gap to close is for people at the top to move down. They won’t allow it. They want a tiered society with cheap public services for the masses and those that can afford it to pay a premium for premium care. They don’t want equality, they vote for the status quo.
Many of them quite like the chaos too, the kind who worship Mystic Moggs old prophecies.
Huh?Yeah - poor Chippy has been like the expansive opening batsman over the last few days - forced to defend his wicket as his team collapses around them - he occasionally has a waft at a loose ball and get the odd boundary but even as he keeps his wicket he is well aware as his team doesn't the run rate gets ever higher and defeat is inevitable.
