The Conservative Party

So if I understand correctly, Truss was picked by the party to implement x policies.

Kwarteng enacted those policies and Truss sacked him to save face because doing so turned out to be a disaster, but those policies are Truss policies, yet she's determined she shouldn't resign as she must enact x policies, almost all of which have now been U-turned, so she can't enact them, and the solution is to get a new chancellor who is from a completely different faction of the party and won't do any of the things she wanted or the miniscule number of people who put her in power voted for.

Makes sense to me.

If I wanted to write a thesis to demonstrate that democracy doesn't work, the events of 2016-2022 in the UK would provide me with all the material I would require.

I would posit that democracy only works: 1. If you have an educated electorate 2. If you do not have a vile, swivel-eyed media run in the interests of plutocratic criminals and 3. If you do not have FPTP voting which gives inordinate power to the largest minority.
