The Conservative Party

Probably a turn of phrase rather than saying it’s a luxury to strike. Like I’d say I don’t have the luxury to not work, try telling the unemployed person struggling to find work about their luxury.

It somewhat side steps the point though mate that these carers are able to fully deal with Margaret’s issues without the need of an ambulance crew. Maybe we need a situation where you can’t access A&E without having been triaged by 111, GP etc. if it’s a genuine emergency call an ambulance. Everyone should be entitled to a minimum response time, not 90% of the time or whatever other meaningless metric they use but 100% of the time. Funding and pay is a significant part of attracting people to the profession but the lack of respect from some members of the public is a fucking disgrace. Mrs MBs has had to duck a few punches thrown at her or being screamed and shouted at by relatives (patients are generally good as gold - exceptions being when they are in pain which makes them act out but that’s understandable, not physical typically, and treatable). She doesn’t tell me the half of it as she knows I’ll have no qualms in heading up to the hospital to have a word. When she was out on the ambulances doing training she’d say about cunts in cars deliberately slowing them down, I’m sure the fire brigade and police can relate as well.

This country is going to the dogs because people lack respect. Politicians need to call these disrespectful cunts out for what they are, but they won’t because they’re worried it’s not a vote winner and everyone will be oh so offended.

For things to be triaged correctly, it would require a system that invests in social care, mental health and early support. We spend metaphorical billions treating people who have jumped off the cliff whilst spending metaphorical pennies in preventing them climbing to the edge of the cliff.
In my job I have to refer children to CAMHS. Parents often bring the letter they receive in to me and ask if the 18-24 month waiting list for assessment that they’ve been quoted is a typographical error. Nope.
CAMHS are now commissioning private Child Psychiatrists to undertake part of this work. Robbing Peter to pay Paul.
The system’s fucked.
The country’s fucked.
Thank God we have a set of bodies (the Trade Unions) who are coalescing to do something about it.

Great work from another duplicitous twat. Maybe he can add the five day suspension to the 20 day parliamentary Christmas break and take a holiday now until 11th Jan. Not as if the country needs a strong government hand on the tiller at the moment is it?
The person chairing the investigation said that he had a ‘cavalier attitude to the rules.’
Might as well direct this observation to the whole nasty party.

In any other walk of life, in any business environment somebody abusing their senior position in this way would be sacked for gross misconduct. Robbing, self serving bastards every one of them.

25 day holiday?
That‘s going to require some decent wedge from his donors and cronies.

You’re absolutely right we don’t spend enough on mental health and the long term costs of not dealing with it make the amount we spend seem insignificant to the money we could “save” let alone the lives we can improve. It’s no better in the paid for sector either. We had reason to have one of our daughters placed in a unit, place was quickly found and the bills quickly arrived - great progress was made but upon discharge from the unit she was referred to their own private “community” setting which took several weeks to even see her, result she was largely back to square one. Thousands wasted and I consider we were the lucky ones who had access to the private section through my works health insurance.

That said we can’t just do nothing because the problem is so large and varied. There is no magic bullet, just individual things that can be done to see cumulative improvements for the many. It should be part of our social contract that we all use our public services more effectively. The days of our social contract of “paying our taxes” as being enough, is gone. Let’s face it that social contract that Bevan gave the country barely lasted a year before it was being eroded.

Went to A&E first thing this morning as my partner woke up bleeding, she had a hysterectomy 10 days ago and this shouldn’t be happening as I’m sure you would know.
4 hours sat there whilst we had half a dozen time wasters, mental issues all of them, who shouldn’t be using up A&E resources but proper specialised care. It used to be for genuine emergencies but now they’re just spread too thin to cope.

After being taken up to Gynaecology for assessment I was asked would I mind wheeling her down for a scan as there wasn’t enough porters to deal with it. I did it gladly but shouldn’t have to but this government have cut so much that it’s a joke.

That’s where we’re now at as a country, not enough resources in the right areas, any area really, and I just can’t see it getting any better.
