Foreign Sec has been marginalised in the public arena since the Blair era, with the PMs doing all the photo ops.

Not unreasonable for leader to talk to leader though (whether or not the Johnson tale is true as presented!)

My issue is more the question of what capacity Boris is continuing to operate and whose (besides his own) interests he's acting?

The various Parliamentary investigations into him need to happen and finish him off politically once and for all. There are a large amount of people who voted for him in 2019 who think he was stabbed in the back by his party and believe he can do no wrong despite achieving nothing during his time in office. He is a danger to this country and has inflicted so much damage to our living standards ever since he dreamt up that slogan for the side of that bus in 2016.

It's part of a documentary (Putin vs the West, BBC2 tonight), and he was PM. I don't see any issue in it, other than whether anything he says is a fair reflection or should be being publicised.

Sorry, I suppose I'm conflating two issues really. Using the BBC as a self aggrandisement tool is probably down to him getting his mate (and major creditor) a posh job there. The documentary does appear to be historical about his time as PM so fair enough.

My question relates more to the jaunt last week, and what seems an ongoing crusade by BJ to be 'mr Ukraine' when we have ministers of state to cover defense/ foreign policy? Also, why doesn't sunak remind him he lost his job, and tell him to get back to his current job as a constituency MP?

In my humble, Johnson has an eye on the elections on May 4th, after which he knows Sunak will face the wrath of a body of Conservative MPs who will have had it confirmed that their seats are definitely unsafe. Until then, Johnson just needs to keep himself in the limelight and position himself as the logical alternative to Armageddon at the next General Election. Sunak won’t want to be drawn into anything with Johnson now, as that would only lend credence to him as a potential rival. Instead, he’ll be hoping that the investigations/inquiries damage Johnson irreparably, so I would imagine that behind the scenes he’ll be facilitating those wherever he can.

We certainly never did when Boris was the actual Foreign Secretary. He was fucking useless in that role just like he is in every role he undertakes.
