The committee report was a from a Conservative majority select committee. Government accepted some recommendations but this is Badenoch justifying the rejection of (a) making menopause a "protected characteristic" in employment law - because (she says) some gingers and short people have asked to be "protected" - and (b) having a pilot scheme for good employment practice (900,000 women have given up jobs because of menopausal problems).

We did this last week. Apart from the roads, the pavements, the street lights, looking after people (young and old) needing care, the libraries, the swimming pools, the playing fields, the parks, the waste disposal, what have the Trafford Council ever done for us?

It is disgraceful. Since the advent of austerity under Osbornes idealistic shrinking of the role of the state every council in the UK has had budget cuts. Councils have statutary obligations that they must observe and the only way they can do that is by increasing council tax. It abdicates responsibility from the Government and places the onus on your local representatives. That is the price you pay for tax cuts for the most wealthy I am afraid.
