It is a classical right wing scream, they do nothing for me. They forget though that Socialism works on a scale they never imagine such as the simple things such as having street lights, traffic lights, roads, schools, I could go on, but some are so enthralled to capitalist ideals they have lost the capacity to think,Where were you educated?

Glad you agreeIt is disgraceful. Since the advent of austerity under Osbornes idealistic shrinking of the role of the state every council in the UK has had budget cuts. Councils have statutary obligations that they must observe and the only way they can do that is by increasing council tax. It abdicates responsibility from the Government and places the onus on your local representatives. That is the price you pay for tax cuts for the most wealthy I am afraid.

So you want to pay less per head than a couple for occupying the same property, during a housing shortage?Wrong
I'm just saying that the 25% discount isn't right it should be a lot more
I've worked hard and paid my bills since I left school
As a home owner i know I have to pay my way and I always have
What I'm saying is why should I pay £1100 for this coming year as a single man,?
The discount should be 50% at least.
The whole CT system is grossly unfair.
Well given the fact that I had to rent privately for 20 years because single men (mainly) are put at the bottom of the housing list you could argue that they deserve a better subsidy when they finally buy a property. So you want to pay less per head than a couple for occupying the same property, during a housing shortage?
It might not be a large property, but you still get the services. It's your choice if you don't use some of them.
To get educated, have a park to play in, not be walking in filth, get care if you're injured or just get old ... to do all that, most people have worked hard and paid their bills.
They do but your point should be you get 50% discount as you won’t use the services as much as a couple living together may do.They don't do anything for me

Experiencing menopause is left wing?
They tried to change the system by bringing in the Poll Tax (which was the death knell for Thatcher). Their argument was similar to yours, in that each person uses the services so each person should pay.Well given the fact that I had to rent privately for 20 years because single men (mainly) are put at the bottom of the housing list you could argue that they deserve a better subsidy when they finally buy a property.
I understand your points, I am just saying that the whole system is wrong and penalises certain people.
I've tried before to get help and I don't qualify. I don't meet the criteriaThey tried to change the system by bringing in the Poll Tax (which was the death knell for Thatcher). Their argument was similar to yours, in that each person uses the services so each person should pay.
That resulted in a family of 4, living in a Band A property, paying 4 times the amount that a person living in a Band D property would. Even though that Band D property occupant might have been a millionaire.
So, quite rightly, there was uproar and the system we now have is the result. I also live on my own, and whilst I can understand some of your argument, the system we have is a lot fairer than the one Thatcher wanted.
Have you tried to see if you can get any further help towards your Council Tax bill?
