The Conservative Party

LOL, self-congratulations, optimistic forecasts, and a growth budget... even a cooling of boots on corporation tax increase, on the day the FTSE ships nearly 5%.

From one perspective, they can't get a break. You can't fuck around like that for 5 years, then turn it around in a year or three. The economy has the turning circle of a freight train.

Moreover, last week's culture wars disaster tells us the party still hasn't learned it's lessons.

If you read chapter 4 and the 170 odd policies it could be any party, mostly positive for average people and some of the more vulnerable.

I couldn't give a shit what part it is, it is as good as could be expected from a part whose support is right if centre.

The pension changes for higher earners make it worthwhile for consultants and surgeons in the NHS to do over time and work longer with the pension changes. The big positive from that particular policy change that affects everyone.

4.13 onwards is hard to criticise:

Flattered you seem to like hanging on my every word. I never knew I had such a dedicated fan ;-)

Oh and EDIT, "Perhaps the mind that is closed is not who you think"?

Well I might consider thinking about that the day someone, ANYONE, on the left on this forum says, "hmmmmm, good point, I had not thought of that". I've been here 15 years and have yet to hear it.
mmmmm, good point, I had not thought of that.

I think the budget today is very positive and sensible.
The cynic in me though notices that the majority of the changes and associated funding required won't be implemented until next year when they won't be in power so it will be up to labour to fund it.
