The Conservative Party

All the same, aren‘t they.
There are plenty of decent politicians from all parties but the only way they survive is to cave-in to the system. Local Government is as broken as National Government. The system is outdated from top to bottom. Policy is driven by lobby groups not what people need. Most national policians are driven by culture wars and trendy causes not what really impacts on people's lives.
The country is dying on its feet because it has failed to modernise as fast as the rest of the world and our rigid inflexible system makes it impossible to move fast enough to keep pace. It is a bloody mess and no one has the vision to tackle it. I am usually a left-leaning centrist but I am almost as angry with Starmer and the Labour party as I am with the most corrupt government I have seen in my lifetime.

I personally look past the Starmer furore and look at what people they have and what policies they are ‘showing’. The outlook has changed inextricably and being realistic with how you see the near future helps to remind how far we‘ve been pushed down during the last 13 years.

Then again, it depends what position you are coming from. Following Blair, most realised we needed a change and accepted that there was a need to tighten our belts for a short period. Nobody could guess that it would continue for so long and to be now where we are can only be described as an act of madness.

Would you normally be a Tory voter, and I have been (not normally, I’m very much about what I think is good at the time) or are you coming from a different position?
I used to be a Tory voter because of my time in the military as they historically supported defence and when Labour had the likes of Corbin at the helm I’d rather have burned by ballot paper than vote for that ****

Now I just want what’s best for the country..

Almost? Some people seem angrier with Labour than the Tories. If only Labour hadn't put us through the last 13 years.

This Omnisis poll demonstrates the differences in a local and general election.

Tories are polled to perform exactly as they have done today with the same vote share.

Labour could also perform pretty much the same as they have done today… but the outcome will be very different. The LibDem local vote share of 20% translates to only 7% in a general election and basically all of that 13% difference goes to Labour.

This is why I think it can only get worse for the Tories from today’s results. There’s no UKIP for the Cons to claw votes back from this time but Labour can claw plenty from elsewhere.

Obviously just one poll, but it’s another bit of evidence that LibDems share will likely go down significantly.

Perhaps the word I should have used is frustration. Corbyn was so useless he couldn't even beat May. Labour has been ineffective for years. They have hardly landed a blow on the biggest bunch of crooks we have ever seen. In many ways they have been as backward-looking as the Tories. More than anything we need an opposition with vision and a modernising agenda. They have to step up.

There is no point voting for a rigged undemocratic system which guarantees that power remains in the hands of two parties of self-interest. Politicians will never change. I haven't voted since John Prescott went into the House of Lords. No one from any party has made any attempt to change our corrupt and outdated system. If you vote you are essentially endorsing this corrupt system. I would support complete change with no House of Lords, no Monarchy, and proportional representation. The first thing we need is a "none of the above" option on the ballot paper. What was the turn-out yesterday? I am sure most people (perhaps a huge majority) did not bother to vote. That sends a strong message but it will be ignored as usual.
The poster you replied to is a good poster but his argument collapses when your choice is nothing but clowns. Now in Billy Smarts circus some clowns maybe slightly better than others but a clown is a clown.

People can keep voting for clowns but one can hardly make a point that voting means you can get anything but.

Seriously whats the point anymore with anything?
I'm dome
I hear you.
And someone posted after about a change in the electoral system which I agree with.
But it won’t happen without positive action.
I’m Irish and believe me, there’s a lot wrong over here, but I can’t understand how a supposedly savvy population have endured/tolerated where you are and worse still, where you seem to be going, without some sort of positive action for change.

It’s not just yourselves. The world in general seems to be passively heading in one direction. I worry that where you end up always ends up affecting us.

Ask yourself one question. If the world is heading in one direction what are you doing to stop it? You ain't a victim of such nonsense but a contributor.

And by you I mean your country not you.
