Any party outing the Tories are on a hiding to nothing as they will be inherriting the biggest shit show ever. The Tories have ruined this country for their own personal gain. I hope they rot in hell

But in fairness. Labour handed over totally empty finances to the tories when they took over. They're all as bad as each other. The tories look after their mates but so have past labour governments.

There is no comparison between what this outgoing government will leave v the last Labour one. The Tories weaponised the note Liam Byrne left (something he has regretted every day since) in a way no other party had done with similar 'traditional' messages. They created a simplistic but effective narrative from it and it set the tone, in that their ability to campaign far outstripped their ability to govern, so they've spent their terms in office 'campaigning' to deflect from how shit and disinterested they are at running the country on behalf of the population.

In fairness, the note was a joke and was left after the global financial crisis had caused financial mayhem across every major economy. It’s simply not true that they handed over “empty finances” (whatever that means). The Tories chose to use that narrative to bring in austerity for 10 years which was what really decimated the country and led to the shit show we’re now experiencing.

Totally agree. The only hope is the public develop longer memories than normal and begin to be realistic about the hole we are in. Otherwise at some point we'll be in rinse and repeat mode and the mind boggles what the next iteration of a Tory government would look like and do.
