Correct me if I'm wrong - the stat's do get a bit jumbled for mere mortals like me:-
Did I hear this morning that the civil servant at the Min of Education said he wanted funding for 200 replacement schools a year?
He alleged that the actual funding was cut and then cut again, so that only 50 were funded in the end - and that it was Chancellor Sunak who made the cuts.
Fast forward to Sunak today, and he says it's completely wrong because he actually decided to fund 500 schools over a 10 year period. Apparently, he said it with a straight face - I only heard it on the radio.
Now, I'm no mathmatician, but doing the best I can, 500/10; doesn't that equate to 50 a year on average - as the civil servant alleged?
Maybe maths isn't Sunak's strong point after all - certainly, he seems to struggle with the concept of truth (and responsibility) anyway.
