The Conservative Party

Disgraceful from Ford.
Aligning themselves with all them other wokie liberal, Marxist, tofu-eaters in the NHS in trying to bring down the government against the will of the people.
If they don’t like it here, they can eff off back to Fordland
Rees-Mogg: if their electric cars are any good, they'll sell. We didn't transition from the horse-drawn carriage to the internal combustion engine with government help....

(He should know. He was there. But there was another impetus to change from the horse-drawn carriage - the amount of horseshit in city streets. And cities were paving more roads that would suit the car, and so that was "government help").

he has a weird view on the world and suffers from the same syndrome as people like Johnson , Truss, Tice and Farage have - its the " I am always right and you are always wrong " syndrome

What staggers me is not the gross incompetence of this failed, meretricious, populist Government.

No, what staggers me is that around 25%-30% of the voting population will still vote for them.

Mostly on the basis of: 'But, Labour...'

Whilst enjoying all the benefits that a Labour Government and trade unions have delivered

and silently mouthing ..... but but Corbyn

On the doorstep last Saturday, I went to three houses we had down as Tory voting. If that's still their intention, my first reaction is simply, "Still?" Many who've always voted Tory now as Don't Know (and still some Johnsonites....)

Would you prefer that the government continues to target an unachievable and unrealistic target just for the sake of it, and incur all the unnecessary expenditure as a result?

The UK was never going to be in a position to adapt to a ban on new ICE vehicles from 2030 - this has been clear for years and the target should have been adjusted much earlier.

If the government can show it's workings out on this, including some evidence that it has at least explored options for addressing the issue of the charging network before giving up AND it evidences that it's been working collaboratively with business to both address the challenges and to discuss any potential timeline changes then I will cut it some slack. The 2030 target was off the back of a fag packet with no detail but if the implication is they have now binned it in favour of a more robust roadmap then let's see it along with the impact analysis.

In the absence of evidence of these things, I will assume they are simply continuing to flail around spouting innane sound bites that they think might give them a bit of an electoral boost, instead of governing in any meaningful sense of the word. In fact any evidence of some form of meaningful industrial strategy/policy coherence would be welcome.

Shitting themselves to get votes, 2030 was always unachievable anyway, like everything it’s all sound bites etc, they are just lurching from one thing to another. Heat pumps are a farce as well, you need an extra room just to put it in.

I remember reading, maybe 10-15 years ago, that due to various factors, there would be massive migration from Africa northwards and that there would be fuck all we could do about it.

I wish I could remember the source, but it has proved to be spot on.

The trouble is that this is a complex problem, and people (generally) want simple solutions, delivered today. And get mighty frustrated when these simple solutions don't emerge.

However, I am going to offer one long-term suggestion for amelioration. Stop bombing the fuck out of third-world countries because we don't like their leaders.
That’s got nowt to do with it, it’s because lots are tribal and wipe each other out, lots of genocide type wars in Africa that people are trying to escape from, their leaders are mostly corrupt and it feeds down. Factor in outside influences and money fro Russia and China, not that the West are much better and that continent is just raped of everything.

That’s fair enough - I thought Sunak actually presented it well today, and personally I see little downside to bringing the UK into line with the EU on issues such as combustion engines.

Because I think the only election strategy they have is to not be Labour............

Which is ironic labour is being more Tory like and the tories don't want to be Labour. Worlds gone mad.

Good news for the smacked arses and there are quite a few on here. Your 4x4's and choking kids is safe for a while yet.
