I didn't vote for him or support a lot of his and Osborne's policies but good god, he's not a total nutcase. Which these days seems to be how low the bar is.

I can see why Sunak would be desperate to get him back to reclaim the centre ground lost to Starmer but I can't see a single reason why Cameron would want to go into that shit show and further damage his legacy.

Cameron’s legacy is austerity, Brexit and the Greensill lobbying scandal. Not really risking that much in the ‘legacy’ stakes.
 
Really doesn’t say much for the current Conservative Party that there wasn’t a single option in parliament they thought could do the role.

Was thinking the same. 350 Tory MPs and they can't find a single one cut out for the job and we're now turning to the guy who torched the country in the first place.

If we're not even bothering with elected MPs anymore then why not actually appoint someone who is an expert on these matters. Oh wait I forgot, we don't like experts in this country any more.
