Well, we can probably rule out Mrs Sunak.

The people he is desperately trying to impress, namely the far right weirdos won’t be impressed. The rest will be mildly nauseated.

Not shaping up to be a great political strategy, staking everything over something you have little to no direct control, namely the weather in the Channel and a Central African leader who wins 98% of the vote and is on the verge of war with one of his neighbours.

It does seem an odd choice of hill to die on.
When he’s finished charging blindly up it he will look round and see his troops deserting en-masse.
His constant references to labour’s plan for immigration was the big give—away. He still sees this as his ace card for the GE since they’ve fucked up everything else.

I might ask if the Handbook could be updated and a rather nifty asterisk be inserted to denote the right any government has to allow the liberal use of “notwithstanding”.
