Correct.
I seem to remember that in 1996 Major was actually turning things round and things were on the up. However the Tory government were fucked ever since the Black Wednesday sterling crisis in 1992 which had made a lot of people with mortgages a lot poorer due to the consequential hike in interest rates, and although that was over it was still fresh in the mind. This time round we’re still in the middle of the cost of living crisis and at the end of the day if people feel worse off then the government doesn’t stand a chance. On top of that all the corruption and Partygate will put the final nail in their coffin irrespective of whatever their media backers dream up about Starmer being a secret Corbynite. The Tories are more fucked now than they were in 1997.
