I watched shit for brains Bridgen on Newsnight earlier - seems that HS2 needs to be binned - its a vote loser and the m oney is needed to fund benefits for the less well off - tells me that he like Steve Baker is hearing in his constituency that people are really struggling and aren't workshy scroungers after all.

I presume if its scrapped he will refund the £2m payment he got from the "hardship fund" set up to compensate people who's properties were to be affected by HS2?

I suspect Newsnight struggled to find any other MP to make the case for dropping HS2 northern legs. The local councils and MPs want it.

It was an odd piece though. "Electric cars will ruin the environmental case for HS2". Apart from all the batteries in cars, and the extra roads for all the people driving rather than taking the train. (Until we get fully autonomous cars and lorries then they can all run together in convoy - a bit like, say, a train.)

Redwood - not understanding how Time Zones work OR wanting Japan to change to BST temporarily. Given the times the House sits he can watch live before attending but as its in recess he has ample time to watch live in the morning and night but can only arsed to tune in to highlights
