I’m all for poppies and supporting the British Legion but having a go at Johnson for not wearing a poppy on the 31t October is frankly absurd

All for poppy wearing and rememberance too, but I also found it absurd it being mentioned for the same reason, but also because it just isn't the prioriity take from that presser
 
What a complete shower of f..king sh1te this lot are. NHS going to be overwhelmed, thousands dead no problem, backbenchers angry because Johnson has been ‘bounced’ into it by those dratted scientists. What do they know about keeping the economy going? Cûnts the lot of them.

I suppose it is our own stupid fault. We knew exactly the type of people we were voting for. The only saving grace for people is the alternative was no better.

Its Poppy Police time ain't it. The time when all the faux patriots dictate what is and what is not acceptable. They have turned what should be a day of remembrance into a day of celebrating UK exceptionalism and furthering the myths of the stand alone mentality.

They get right on my fucking tits. I no longer indulge the cunts, I don't wear a poppy anymore in protest at there haranguing. I will of course still donate to the RBL and still take my mam to the Cenotaph and show my respects. My Grandad was a desert rat and he never wore a poppy or attended the cenotaph, he never spoke about what he saw or went through and for him it was a day that brought back memories he preferred weren't there.

Id be willing to bet he is anti poppy himself given some of his posts on this forum as well lol.

Yes, but that is a corruption and nepotism issue rather than the actual response to the pandemic. I do recognise the two will be linked - if you pick the wrong contractors you get sub service delivery.

Yes I very much dislike the tories, but agree in terms of lockdowns and all that jazz it's been an impossible situation and most Western countries have struggled similarly. The biggest failure of the government is the test and trace system, but apart from that they've not been too incompetent I wouldn't say.

Their biggest failures to date are: an inability to act quickly, ie went into the first lockdown too late, gone into this lockdown too late, overpromising and underdelivering on testing, track and trace, poor communications, squabbling with regional and devolved authorities over financial support, overselling by saying the crisis will be over by this summer, September, next spring (it won’t), not looking at countries in the Far East that have rigorous mask wearing, public sanitisers everywhere and putting these measures in place with strict enforcement early on, giving public contracts to cronies without proper oversight, putting mates in charge and valuing loyalty over competence.

And that’s just the highlights.

What about ignoring the recommendations of their own report into what they should and the amounts they should stockpile for a pandemic? Selling the contract to manage the stockpiles of health equipment that we had to an American subsidiary of a postal service with no experience in managing health equipment stockpiles? watching the disaster develop in Italy ...... watching China build a hospital in a week .. the same week that the Tories announced the closure of ten hospitals and walk in centres? And then sodding off on holiday for the rest of the month?

Is that incompetent enough? (thats for starters)
 
We have never been and nor will we be going into a lockdown.

Its a bullshit phrase that gives the illusion we are doing something.

What we are doing is arbitrarily putting millions into a huge struggle financially whilst fucking with their mental health whilst allowing more than enough to basically go about life as normal so they can keep spreading and reinfecting.

It was still only October yesterday, I don’t put my poppy on until the week of Remembrance Sunday (ie from tomorrow). I don’t see why anyone else should.

The biggest failures for me were hospital PPE at the start and not closing down our borders in February and September when it was clear that when our numbers were low, the way it would come in was from abroad.

Track and Trace doesn’t work if the R is moving faster than tracking a tracing. It’s been shown in this wave in Germany: worked back in the Summer quite well there but the R is rocketing over there in this wave and it’s impossible for T&T to keep up.

Plus with T&T, you are relying on selfish humans to isolate when tracked and traced. There would always be a sizeable damaging number of people who wouldn’t isolate, or bosses who demand their employees go to work if they have no symptoms.
