The Conservative Party

I think you and fode in the hole should both say who you used to be on here.

That post is exactly why it concerns me. It’s already all been shoehorned into an overall political argument and perception and people are already going along with it, it’s intentionally making the topic binary so that it can be pushed as someone’s fault.

We’re intentionally making ourselves thicker and people that should know better are validating it rather than fighting it (on both sides). A lot of it isn’t a culture war, it’s an intellectual one and it’s losing already.
Again, it’s one side that caused it and they’re taking over the education system with their nonsense.

All the government is doing here is ensuring both sides of the argument get a fair whack and discussion.

It's my patriotic right to say the country's going to shit.
Not really sure what patriotic right means but you think it’s going to shit because your preferred politics has been rejected.

Just before Covid, leaving the pandemic aside, it was the safest, most progressive, most prosperous time to be alive.

If you really want to see a country that’s gone to shit, go to Venezuela and see what socialism does.

If you really want to see a country that’s gone to shit, go to Venezuela and see American Sanctions because you refuse to sell them your oil does.

Corrected for you. You have a blinkered view of the UK.

You need to stop reading the Morning Star mate and you seriously need to speak to someone who is from Venezuela.

I have the luxury of knowing someone who fled there and believe me, she’s not blaming American sanctions, which are always the pathetic excuse for an oil rich country subjecting its citizens to poverty.

The sanctions mostly came after the crisis.

5 minutes with her and you’d drop socialism like Liverpool falling down the league table.

What about the 150,000 dead because of sanctions?

If we were that prosperous why have we cut rural bus services, closed libraries, youth clubs, children's services?

How come you voted Lib Dem?

The better term to use is cuts and whilst I am no fan of Osbourne and Cameron, nor how harsh austerity was, you’ll need to provide clear evidence it specifically led to the deaths of 150,000.

And well, that’s obvious, there was a global financial crash that affected everyone. The public voted in, not once, but twice, a party that stood on a manifesto that stated they would do these cuts.

As much as I dislike David Cameron, at least I can acknowledge it was the public’s decision. You lot seem to think he staged a coup and got in that way to force austerity on everyone.

Jo Swinson was the best available candidate at the time, to lead the country imo and it was a toss up between them and the Tories. I nearly went Tory to stop Corbyn but in the end decided to put a cross next to the most sensible party at the time.

Plus my local Liberal candidate is very good as Councillor. Although the Tory MP is also good, he just makes less effort canvassing locals.
