The Conservative Party

Given the utter contempt in which they hold us I'm surprised things have stayed as peaceful as they have. Politically I'm probably angrier now than I've ever been and that includes the Thatcher era. They need to be (metaphorically) driven into the sea never to return.

I'm surprised there hasn't been more civil unrest, normally you would say that was a good thing but it just shows how pathetically apathetic us brits are.

I think it is universally accepted that they will be out at the next GE. I don't just want them out, I want them obliterated such they have none, if any influence in the HoC.

There's been an exponential rise in the availability of information and misinformation since I was young. I wonder if people are a combination of (a) overwhelmed by it all, then compounded by (b) lulled into thinking that having a rant on social media is meaningful.

356 asylum seekers arrive in a single day. (Daily Mail.)

Maximum to be sent to Rwanda, if the scheme gets go-ahead = 200. (Cost of £ millions.)

Asylum seekers from Rwanda under the scheme = 200 with 'complex needs'.

And this is a solution? Am I missing something?
It was a solution, but probably not the final solution Suella had in mind.

Yes. You are missing the simple fact that lines two and three of your post are never discussed in headline articles.
The public fell for Brexit because the big bus (and non-existent oven-ready deals) hid the detailed contracts, built up over 40+ years, that would need to be renegotiated.
The simple facts of the Rwanda plan are hidden behind the headline in line one. The voters won't see the details if the don't want to look.

A nation of Stockholm syndrome sufferers

Haven't checked it's veracity yet, but was reading some stuff recently that basically said we along with Poland were the least politically engaged population out of about 10 European countries studied. We scored lowly for level of activism (all parties/views) and we scored lowly for the amount of engagement through the media. Most Europeans, ourselves included, get their political engagement through media sources rather than through activism of any kind but we were noticeably lower in that area too. Add to that the state of our media anyway and you can see how we are where we are.

Of course you are ‘missing something’ the front page headlines in the Tory press.

Hard to arrange a day, what with the trains being on strike at random and £300 a ticket should they be running.

They're not daft this lot. We can’t protest if we can’t get there.

Retail sales slumped in September so we will be in some sort of technical recession that turns into growth after the Christmas spending spree. The economy will flat line until mid 2025. He’s delusional if he thinks it’s growing.
Now we’re out of the EU, the UK economy will flatline ad infinitum.
