The Conservative Party

Jenrick resigns.

Cruella is starting her leadership bid.
Civil war breaks out.
This could lead to a quicker than thought GE.
It would be hilarious , but after watching the liar-in-chief today and now seeing this, you have to worry about who is actually running this country in the interests of the British people.
Remember them Rishi?

Reported that Sunak's told the 1922 committee to fight the election not each other.
What a thing to have to ask your party.

Then Jenrick reportedly quits.
And before that Braverman quit, ignoring the fact that she'd been sacked.

Very well said. This situation has also highlighted for me the terrible state of the wages we have in this country. I don’t know if this always was the case, I’ve had the Tories my entire working life and I don’t remember it being any different.

It’s shocking that the £38k band covers most of our teachers, nurses, engineers, academics, junior doctors… some of those jobs take the best part of a decade to even qualify for… I have degrees in technical disciplines but I work (against my will) in financial services. Why? Because it is effectively the only industry in this country that reliably pays enough for somebody to actually have half a chance of saving for a decent retirement.
From the self-servative scum were elected, my wage has dropped by over £7,000 a year, and that is taking a pay slip from 2009, putting the wage into the Bank of England inflation calculator which uses the Consumer Price index and not the higher Retail Price Index.
If I was to get a double promotion, I would still be paid less in real terms than in 2009.
So basically £500+ a month less being circulated in the local economy and people wonder why the local pub has closed and the other bar in the village only opens two or three times a week, the local chippy closed etc
Now add to that their changes to the pension meaning I have to pay more, work longer and get less.....but hey, we need to ensure the bankers get their bonuses and Tory owners - donor's get their kickbacks

There will be opt outs for the care and health sectors and others no doubt. All Govt announcements are done for headlines these days and this latest wheeze will generate more negative stories if the Govt tried to enforce what they are proposing.

Personally, I think this Govt is hanging by a thread and the possibility of open revolt/civil war within the Tory party is underpriced. It’s pretty much in Lord of the Flies territory.

Re-upping my post from this morning.

In my view, I don’t see it as a real problem as without legal immigration we‘d have real problems in many public sectors, as well as the private. As for refugees, just get them processed properly and we wouldn’t hear of small boats, with the 20% that do not qualify moved back to their original destination.

Funny how Cumming’s and Johnson used this as the very essence of their ‘Dead Cat’ policy and now Sunak and Co have took it on as a serious issue. Even they knew that it would be found out eventually.
No I mean the racist bullshit of their policy is a real problem. As someone who’s currently an immigrant (in Germany) and who would be effected by the new rules about salary levels if I wanted to come back to the UK with my non-British wife, I completely agree with you re:immigration.
