Is it me or are the vast majority of posters on here these days incredibly ungrateful bastards with their heads in the clouds?

We sign Gareth Barry, out of nowhere, a player who ticks all the boxes of what we need in midfield, 2 years back this would have been cause for celebration but these days it's met with 'he's alright, not as good as Messi though, he'll do as a squad player if we must I suppose' as we all eagerly wait for a new thread to appear started by a liar who will claim we're going to sign some mega superstar the likes of which we've never seen.

Whoever Hughes signs will dissapoint 90% of people who frequent this place. Unless we sign a thoroughbred, glamorous, celebrity, world star our fans no longer want to know.

If Hughes can't sell mid table trophy less City to Eto or Kaka then the problem is obviously him and not our standing in English/Euro/World football.

We've got Ireland, for me a true star, yet we'd much rather wank over someone we've never heard of outside of computer games as they've got a cool single name and will cost 50m at least.

I foresee a pre season of bitching and moaning as Hughes signs players who can do a job and are happy to sign for a club like us. I don't think an extra 10k a week will sell many players on the idea of MCFC, if you earn 100k a week then why would it?

I'm not advocating a loss of ambition of hope but I do think a lot of you need a reality check where transfers are concerned.

If Tevez doesn't sign for us, I don't think he will, I expect a mass uproar and outrage on here as all perspective is lost once again and we blame Hughes and/or Cooke for not being able to lure him here.

Me, I'm grateful for what we have, this time last year we had very little to be excited about, we now have Robinho, Ireland, SWP, De Jong etc all looking to raise us to the next level. It's a slow process, I expect us to challenge for top 6 this season, no higher, and I'm quite happy with that.

Ok so a lot of you lot felt that Dabo and Corradi were enough to raise Pearce's blues to top 6 but that just shows that a lot of people are deluded.

top, top post. In fact I'm not coming on here (Transfer Forum) again, it's full of twats posting bollocks about Villa or resurrecting old threads about SWP that have people who can't read the date wetting their knickers.

As per TMQ, I agree with everything you said, and PaleBlue, you have hit the nail on the head.

I have said it time and again. 2 things (whilst great) have changed Citys support:

Svens first 12 games.
Signing Robinho.

I'm gonna fuck off to bed in a minute and re-read KOTK from November 2006 and think about losing away to Wigan 4-0. I suggest some others should on here and remember how far we've come in a short space of time.

We never win at home and we never win away
we lost last week and we lost today
we don't give a fuck cos we're all pissed up
MCFC OK

is quickly turning into

we MUST win at home and we MUST win away
I don't just moan on Bluemoon late on a Saturday
Obsessing over United is all I do
So can we take their 3rd choice striker?!
- may need some work?!

Steady on there Quinninho - we may all agree with your post, but like you?

Here's another Joycean quip for you "Mistakes are the portals of discovery." Maybe we need this process before we all "settle down eh eh". I think people need to take a rational medium to long term approach, but it's great to dream!

I'm excited about Tevez, I'm delighted with Barry but for sure, agree top 6 is the only realistic expectation for next season and don't really expect or even want "marquee" signings.

Excellent original post.

What so you want us to buy shit players? Because by your reckoning we will be lingering in mid table yet again. Matthew Upson, Scott Parker here we come!!!

I take your point.

Why ever not?

It pisses me off when people say shite like this. Makes me think of rags.

I just don't see it happening. If it does then great, I'll be pretty chuffed to be honest but we all know that all it takes for the rags to offer him something decent and he's happy as Larry.

Excellent OP , which l agree with entirely, l was also gonna suggest that it be made a sticky but some fucker beat me to it.

ln fact it should be used as an initiation and anyone wanting to start a thread in this sub-forum should be first made to recite it ad-verbatum...

Personally, l have stopped even reading this part of the forum, let alone posting ,as it is fucking hard work and anyone suggesting a realistic, suitable transfer target or potential signing other than a World renowned superstar gets pilloried and demonised by a pack of seemingly spotty, pre-pubescent kids.

I agree with the original post too.

I think the reason lots of Blues are clamouring for the niggest names is that they want to hold their head up high amongst United fans. This to me is why there is so much excitement about possibly signing Tevez.

He's good but I won't be that bothered if he comes. Barry is the right player in the right position, as would be Lescott and RSC.

People should look at what players will do for our team, not how they will be perceived by others.
