The Cure night BBC2

wah! were a great band.

i can't remember who played first,
just that wah! were amazing.
(according to my diary
it was june27th 1981
& a band called send no flowers were the support).

my last gig at the old poly was 27th feb 1982
u.k. decay + danse society.

don't know when they switched venues,
but my first gig at the new poly
(yes, i think you're right, nelson mandela building)
was may 29th 1982
au pairs + the raincoats + electra complex + fast relief.
au pairs didn't come on stage until about 1:30am.
fantastic band live.
Nice to see Dance Society get a mention. Never saw them
live but they made their mark on the goth/ rock/ indie scene.
Rock City Notts played their tracks often , back in the day, Heaven is waiting was a floor filler.
Those days at RC were always ...Cure days.
I've never brought a Cure LP ever, for whatever reason..
So I'm still amazed to hear random tracks as I go through life
Charlotte Somtimes is an absolutely brilliant track
I do know there is much more for me to discover from the albums.
I'll get there .one day ;)

danse society were really powerful live.
the drumming on the early stuff was amazing.

went to loads of punk gigs over the years at rock city.
great venue, top promoter,
happy to accommodate big or small bands.

Saw some right gigs at the Poly. Seem to recall Wah and Pink Military playing there with U2 bottom of the bill!

Just watched the 2019 Glastonbury set on iplayer. Wow. Fantastic. I’m definately having a bit of this if they tour next year which they have alluded to.
