The damage was done in autumn

What I hate is that Hughes was allowed to buy all these players and then not given a proper chance to have a go with them. I'm still pissed off that he was sacked and think we shot ourselves in the foot. Yes results have improved slightly in the second half of the season but I was confident that would be the case anyway as players settled into the side.

The results in Autumn were disappointing, mainly the draws against Fulham, Burnley and Hull but you cannot use that to excuse the poor run we are on at the moment. We've got three wins in ten games and look very much a beatable side. Is that the kind of huge improvement that suggests sacking Hughes was the right decision?

I understood most of what Hughes was trying and felt he was extremely unlucky at times, some of the decisions that went against us and stupid individual errors that cost us too were ridiculous. I can't fathom Mancini's thinking at all. His constant changes to the team and his substitutions are the actions of a man with no confidence in his team selection. I'm prepared to give him time because I am sick of changing manager but we shouldn't be in the situation yet again where we have a new manager who needs time. By the end of this season we would have been able to say with a fair time period and big spending how well Hughes has done. The time for judgement would have been the end of this season but we robbed him and ourselves of the chance to see what would happen and decided to go back to square one. Self destruction.

If Hughes had stumbled on VK and JL as a partnership early in season we might be in top 4 now, if if if, might might might

vk and lescott were both injured at different times couldnt have stumbled on it if he tried!!

I agree - I just wanted to see stability for once in over 40years - we've tried everything else! - look at Moyes at Everton and what he has over-achieved with little resource. Clubs that stick by mangers seem to get it right eventually - 2 or 3 seasons. I know they are not Champions league but look at them player for player with ours - we should be poles apart in the league. When will some of our fans give any credence to what players, managers, pundits, and their own eyes tell them - backing managers with time can pay dividends.
This isn't an 'I told you so post' - I still think 4th is possible, but probably unlikely with Spurs playing with confidence and scoring for fun.
I think our players are capable - but sometimes it's also better to stop the clear contenders for 4th getting who they want - some of spurs signings would have been good in our squad and would have ruled them out of the chase.
Hindsight I suppose.
I like Mancini - he has a good playing and mangerial record - but guess what - as soon as we don't make 4th - there goes another manager. He needs time to adapt to the premiership, the pace, and the differing team styles - you know he won't get it though and of course he won't get the patience for many of our own fans who think money guarantees instant success - it helps but cohession and stability are vital.
May I recommend Classic Fm for the next 5 days - no hysterical City coverage and keeps the blood pressure down until the next 90 minutes of the City enigma code. Even Turing would have difficulty working us out.

With the 7 draws back-to-back
Drawing games from wiining postions(fulham, burnley) is not good
HOWEVER we still have a chance to get 4th as liverpool look lost, spurs still have to play the top 3 and villa look tired
If someone would of told me at the start of the season we would still be in the race at this stage of the season i would of taken it
Now is the time to really get behind the lads cos their going to need it
CTID

I said at the time them 7 games will come back and bite us on the arse, it's looking like that at the moment.
