Oh dear forty yarder !!Luxury! We had no feet!
My first ever job was working at Trickers Northampton 1972...the factory is still there and they used it to film Kinky Boots.I have a pair of Trickers Malton boots, had them over 20years, I send them to The Shoe Healer in Doncaster for re-soling and heeling, just received them back in the post, £75 inc postage, they put new pull tabs on them this time. The boots cost me £250 in 2002, same boots now are £580, absolute quality footwear but mad money. I'll probably wear them for my cremation.

Was that next door to the sharples bakery shop? I'm sure the cobblers was called Lucians. Not seen a proper cobblers shop since the one on Chapman Street Gorton closed down. (on the corner opposite the Spar)
My god did that place smell. He had some belted machine running ten to the dozen all day long.
I'm not sure because Lucians "bag shop" was next the bakers on Cross street. The bakery is now a Martins. Was that next door to the sharples bakery shop? I'm sure the cobblers was called Lucians.
