The Derby Post Match Thread

Sorry but have to disagree.
Too many City fans said the opposite yesterday, that it showed how good the Rags were, because we GAINED a point, because we got hammered last season 4-2.
Now who is dissalusioned ??
I make no apologies for repeating myself yesterday, the Rags are a piss poor team.If I am wrong in your opinions then I wish you had been with me tonight at dominoes in Mid Cheshire with a load of Rag fans (some of whom are ST Holders and have been for years) who claim they are definitely NOT a top four team.
I`ll let you make of those comments what you will, but they are not a happy lot in the manner in which they set up,with acknowledging that that we had our best two players out.
Their lack of support for their Manager left a lot to be desired and all felt that they (as a team) were a long way behind City.

They finished in the top four last season, and are in the top four currently. They'd have gone level top with a win. They might not be great, but they satisfy pretty much any imaginable criteria of a 'top four team.'

I think we're actually agreeing with each other matey. I'm saying the rag was deluded for claiming that they were so much better and had progressed. I'd say that they were just as frightened of us, playing two defensive midfielders at home, with no width apart from the full backs, against a team they scored four against last season and that had it's two most dangerous players missing.

Its took me nearly 36 hours after the match to clock that we kept another clean sheet with Vinny on the pitch.

The rags performance suggested to me its our title to lose.

I don't think the rags are our biggest challengers, I think Arsenal are, but I agree it's our title to lose.

I'm sure it's been said before but Sunday shows how hard it's going to be to find Yaya a place in our side for big games. He can't play in a 2 man midfield and isn't mobile enough for a number 10 or centre forward.

We lose a lot in terms of passing and control without him but we can be very exposed when he plays.
It's not hard at all, there's a perfect place for him on the bench. Plus, imagine bringing Yaya on after 70 mins if you need a goal, he'll still have some energy to burst through a tired defence.

yep I would go along with that. united fans who I have spoken to are not happy with the brand of football turtle is displaying. To be frank without Silva and kun we still have issues going forward and it showed in that game. This is something that still needs to be addressed. I know a few have defended Bony but even though he had a decent first half he faded really badly for what is a very experienced premier league striker. His movement and hold up play in the 2nd half was amateur at the least.

The plus point from the derby was the return of a solid defensive display, but take in to account that united with their strongest line-up did not even trouble us - tht is the damning verdict on united's behalf. Some united fans will bemoan possession etc (even turtle head) but the fact is they are slow, pedestrian and lack any creativity going forward. The only bright spark for them was martial with a couple of half runs.

What we have to do is look at addressing the issue of when kun and silva are out of the team. KDB is doing great, but in order to be effective he would need someone like nasri in their with him and sterling to be stretching the back line, but with nasri out it was ultimately left to KDB to produce on his own.

Again what is happening is united are having a season fall into their hands that is enabling them to get into the top four due to the poor form from chelsea and Liverpool.

Should have gone to Specsavers.
There weren't as many as in previous years bit still quite a few. Someone was even shouting abuse at the wearers as they got up to the concourse. The most amusing thing (other than Shrek's £300k a week for four years) was that some rag clowns were buying them after the match as souvenirs of the worst derby for many years.
As for the rags not mustering one song; I think hearing aids are in order.
They weren't particularly loud, or tuneful, or remotely amusing, but they managed a few of the usual ditties.
The scenes outside were quite worrying: they seem to have even more tourists than usual and every time I walk past our main entrance before the game I fear we might go down the same route.
Their was no half and half scarves where i was sat, going to spec savers wouldn't change that you sarcastic sod, also a few people singing a nursery rhyme is pretty shit, do you think we would ever allow them to drown us out at the Etihad?

Whoa, forget this post match debate. Dominoes is one of the most underrated of pastimes.
Is it pairs 5&3's that you play Oakie? We have the local 'Top of the Hill' champions based here. Maybe we could arrange a pre-match friendly when you travel down to the Saints or Bournemouth games. Top pre-match entertainment over a jar or two of the finest ale,but be warned - what these locals lack in football knowledge, they make up for in the dark arts of the 'bones'.

Or taking it further, maybe we could get a City Domino Firm together. "Hello, is that West Ham? We've got four and we're coming down your boozer to take you on!" Could be the way forward ;-)
