The Eddie McGoldrick paradox

Ok guys, I'm asking you to remember the most high profile city player you'd completely wiped from memory.

For me it was Eddie Mcgoldrick. I was reading about Coppells time in charge when his name popped up, and it was a proper head wobbler. I'd completely wiped him from memory.

I remember at the time thinking anyone who was good enough for Arsenal would be more than decent for us.

Sadly, it didn't work out well for either party.

Who's your Eddie Mcgoldrick?
I thought he did OK for us and he did a stint on GMR co-commentating with Andy Buckley, without fail Mcgoldrick would always shout "he's in" whenever we was on the attack.

Remember Eddie turning out for us, was never sure whether we were better with him or without him starting. He had a good left door from memory, nice passer and a calming influence, maybe it's me but I don't remember us winning much with him playing.

For me the signing I often forget played for us is DaMarcus Beasley, and a defender we signed at about the same time as Mikkel Bischoff. Can't remember his name easily, Tyrone Loran maybe, not sure he started much for us. Beasley wasn't all that bad for us too, i think he was just in that group of players in our squad between medicority and the takeover that were 'ok' for the time.

Carl Griffiths I always felt a bit sad for how that worked out I was at Leeds when he came on for his debut as sub(against a very good Leeds side)and was superb. He was rightly picked to start against Everton in the next game (at Maine Rd) scored and was causing all kinds of problems but was kicked off the park by their back four until he carried off and after a lengthy spell out never looked the same player again for us.

Tal Ben Haim would be mu call in this thread though you just knew Portsmouth must have been in a world of mismanagement when they took him off our hands!

Don't know if anyone's mentioned David Seaman but I remember thinking he would be a great keeper for us. He was well past his best and looked like a guy from the crowd half the time. If forgot about him until I saw all these other wretched players.

Think he lasted a few months then had the grace to retire.

He made Bravo look a world beater.
