The End of on Street Parking within walking distance of the Etihad

There was a similar thread to this at the back end of last season. Me and this guy were moaning about the restrictions and were swapping parking stories and then he made a comment that absolutely nailed it …. “Drivers are the new smokers”

That’s the political zeitgeist regardless of a big majority of the public disagreeing with it and so we’re gonna be phased out sooner or later like it or not.

The lad I sit next to started to do that. We sit towards the family stand end and at the final whistle he always made a swift exit to get to the metro link station before the queue became horrendous
He came to one game and said he’s not park and riding again as nearly all the cars, including his, had had their tyres slashed

I use that car park if im shopping down town with the mrs, bit of a daft thing to do if its a rag, cos not just City fans use it. Thought they had cameras there. For City either get tram from Ashton to Etihad or train to Manchester if i go for a drink first.

An ex-girlfriend of mine lives in one of these areas and it’s a nightmare for residents on matchdays so when the arena opens it would be a nightmare for residents five nights or more a week so I can see why they’re doing it.

But if they’re doing this, public transport to Etihad Campus needs to drastically improve!

The frequency of Mets post-game is a fucking joke. Three times this season I’ve waited nearly half an hour after reaching the platform before a Met to Town has shown up. That’s utterly pathetic. You get a more frequent Met service in the arse-end of nowhere like Shaw on a Tuesday afternoon than after a City game at the Etihad.

There needs to be a huge increase in bus services to Piccadilly and Victoria stations from the Etihad post-game.

There needs to be a proper walk route set up.

There needs to be Park&Ride for people who don’t head into Town at various places across the outskirts of the conurbation.

Even a water taxi service set up from Town in the Rochdale Canal would be good.

There needs to be more around the Campus to stay and have a drink and/or food so that not everyone needs to leave at the same time.
A few years ago I went to the night game by myself and looked at parking around one of the areas in question. As I was asking a local she told me not to park as you had to display a Special Card which confirmed you were a local and it must be shown in the car window.
I asked her if this extended also to people with Blue Disability Badges and yes that was the case.
She asked me to wait a minute and the kind lass told me to use her husbands badge as he was on a 2-10 shift that night.
Absolutely wonderful gesture and yes I can understand the necessity of locals having the nightmare to try and park anywhere near their residence on a match night.

Slightly off topic, but.

Bev Craig and other councillors at Manchester City Council can’t even keep the streets of Manchester litter free and clean and tidy, so there’s not a chance in hell that useless rabble can sort the transport problems out in (East) Manchester.

Or the residents of Manchester can’t keep their streets litter free.

Or the residents of Manchester can’t keep their streets litter free.
That’s correct.

But when there’s no visible street cleaning the problem of litter and street cleaning multiplies.

The council don‘t even clean the leaves up along the roads and kerbs anymore.

When was the last time you saw a road sweeper or cleaning team in your area?

Back to topic.

Do locals have to agree to this, but still have to pay for their own ticket while the local council get to be remunerated for the fines?
