The End of on Street Parking within walking distance of the Etihad

I park and walk from Gorton Lane. I’m hoping that’s all going to be ok. It’s a good 20 mins walk so hoping it’s not in the new zone

There was a similar thread to this at the back end of last season. Me and this guy were moaning about the restrictions and were swapping parking stories and then he made a comment that absolutely nailed it …. “Drivers are the new smokers”

That’s the political zeitgeist regardless of a big majority of the public disagreeing with it and so we’re gonna be phased out sooner or later like it or not.
And I don't have a problem with that IF we had an alternative. We don't. As others have said, the Ashton Met will be out of action soon and there are no buses. There is absolutely no joined up thinking.

15 pages so far. How many have done the online objection posted earlier ? Mrs Mist has never been allowed to go to the Etihad but she's done it, she doesn't know she has but........
If you don't object, don't complain.

Edit the survey is on page 5. It takes 2 minutes.

"that's 100 whingers and 150 busy-bodies then" apparently

What's happening with the ashton met and when?
It is odd that many of the users of this way of getting to the etihad have no idea that it will cease to be available for 2 years (and counting…) to facilitate the HS2 construction at Piccadilly (due to there being only one depot/maintenance yard for trams of the entire network located on the ‘wrong’ side of the works.)

It will seriously dent the Coop arena’s plans to become the premier arena imo, I can see the headlines now… ‘Ed Sheehan fans appalled at travel and parking chaos’, let alone City fans.

I presume/hope there must be a comprehensive bus replacement service planned for the Ashton line… but as it’s not been mentioned as far as I recall…
Lots of info in the link on ongoing chats about it

Have the special buses stopped that used to line up on the main road opposite the South Stand?

When I was in that stand it wasn’t too bad a set up really. If you left bang on the whistle and got on the first or second one in the queue, you were away as soon as they were full and back in town reasonably quickly. Depending on traffic obviously.

I’ve used the tram since I switched to the other end of the ground a few years ago though.

When the new HS2 station is built next to Piccadilly, then have to re-locate Piccadilly tram stop so the line is severed in two during the process. There is talk of building a maintenance depot in Ashton to enable shuttle services between New Islington and Ashton. A few years away yet though.

The buses still run, all 3 of them. At 78 people per bus that's ergh just over 200 fans.

Why worry about buses trams trains & car parking when you can just abandon your car in town & join the march to the match City have started up again
