The end of the Conservative Party?

The problem is people don't really know what they want. Well, they do. Low taxes, high wages and top-quality public services. But it's impossible to square the circle. Especially when Brexit has cut 4% off GDP, every year forever. To put that in context, that's enough to build HS2 every year!

This country is deeply corrupt and malign organisations including but not limited to Tufton Street, the Daily Mail and the RW media generally hold us in thrall and stop us from modernising. Part of the problem is we have never had a proper revolution and so outdated institutions have never been reformed and resist reformation. These include Parliament with its bloated, unelected Upper House and its pathetic, outdated voting system for the Commons. The absence of a proper codified constitution is also a liability. The system only works if everyone is a 'gentleman' with 'honour'. All it takes is a chancer like Johnson to demonstrate that those unwritten conventions no longer suffice.

How anyone sorts this mess out I do not know. I suppose theoretically an actual revolution might break the logjam, but revolutions can also lead to chaos and dictatorship.

Revolutions aren’t the end all be all unfortunately it is what comes after it. The US is a good example since we had a civil war but what came after it was a complete poo show that allowed the people responsible to still continue be in power to mess things up.

Yeah but post Mayday Johnson evicted any moderates from the Party and they were replaced by swivel eyed Brexit supporting loonies many of whom hated foreigners with racist leanings so the number of people in the Party who were prepared to say this and support it. The Tory Party is a much different place in just 5 short years
There must have been a fair number of swivel-eyed, xenophobic, loons in the party for Cameron to shit his pants and agree to the referendum.

Members yes - he feared losing their votes - I was referring to the PCP where moderates were replaced

My current prediction (I know) is for Sunak to steady things for a couple of years before losing the next election to Labour, but retaining their place as the opposition.

The Tories will be back, but they need to lose pretty much all their intake of 2019 candidates that won. They aren’t true Tories, they were Brexit enablers. They weren’t properly vetted and as a result, we've got a plethora of shallow, intellectually lightweight MPs howling at the moon as they realise they’ll likely by on the scrap heap by 2025.

Where have all the states-people gone?

Definitely, it’s all the idiots who have backed Johnson over the last 48hours.

Getting rid of Nadine Dorries needs to be a priority for them.

She’s a bloody witch that woman.

No the problem is they very much are. This is a false narrative of entryism when the truth is that is the door was opened up and they were welcomed in.

Kind of. Generally they’d pick their candidates better.

They pick candidates willing to contest the seats, you're giving the Tories too much credit. They've always been a bunch of bastards and perverts.

This is the same party that had a paddy when Gordon Brown held the budget during Cheltenham festival week, they have always had nutters who do not live in the real world.

No doubt she’ll become a Dame and chat shit in the Lords instead.

Lady MadNads, not Dame if she wants to go into the Lords.

It's almost certain that the Eton mess has nominated her, but it was reported that they're desperately trying to have those resignation honours delayed 2 years to avoid by-elections (which is impressively blatant in its cynicism).

Make her a Dame, reliant on Sunak to put her in the Lords in years ahead.
Make her a Lords member, then there's a by-election.
