The FA ask Mark Hughes to explain comments about Bells

if the fa charge hughes they will be calling him a liar. if they don't they will effectively be saying that clattenburg's a liar. and clattenburg's credibility is already in shreds after the ade/arsenal incident. clattenburg and his linesmen are the ones who should be called to account.

6 Match touchline ban with another 6 suspended.

£ 2,000,000 fine "because the club can afford it".

And the ban will commence week beggining 5th Jan 2010.

It's already been decided at a kangaroo court.

;o)

How long after calling Wiley unfit did the FA wait before asking Surly Alex to explain his remarks?

mark knew he had gone too far yesterday. rightly or wrongly this was always coming. i think you are allowed to slate the ref's decisions and performance, but you will always get in trouble if you question what was behind those decisions.

as others have said, this might be what MH had in mind, he has 'dropped' the incident but made sure it continues to be looked into..

Sent the following e mail to the FA: -

"I understand that you have asked Mark Hughes to explain his comment that “the sending off of Bellamy was laughable”

Might I suggest as Mr Hughes will probably have to be more diplomatic than an average fan that his comment could have something to do with Bellamy having been tripped by Bolton’s right fullback, Robinson. Resulting in Manchester City losing a clear advantage in a dangerous situation. Mr Hughes may well have viewed the loss of a key City player instead of Bolton as being a little bit inappropriate. What Hughes should have said was that his second yellow card was totally outrageous and showed a complete lack of refereeing awareness and possibly a level of vindictiveness on the part of the official who knew that this was the player’s second yellow card. Mr Hughes may also have been influenced by Bolton’s first goal where even viewed in real time it should have been impossible not to see the Bolton player clearly, not just slightly, offside.

May I also politely enquire if you have asked the match officials on the day to explain there comments in respect of Manchester City players who they were less partial to. My words not theirs so perhaps an explanation of what they actually said would be appropriate.

And as the FA are clearly prepared to break their own rules about taking additional disciplinary steps after a referee has seen an incident and taken action especially as the same official was involved (reference Adebayor’s celebration against Arsenal). Perhaps, I can look forward to Bellamy having his second yellow card disallowed and Robinson receiving some punishment for a tackle clearly intended to stop a player who he would have had no chance of stopping legitimately."

I await their reply but I am not holding my breath.

Thank you bossman, really appreciated, hopefully something comes of this.

Even Gary Megson, who has to rate as fourth on my list of least favourite PL Managers, said that he couldn't understand why the referee had sent off Bellamy. So if he can see it, all the fans in the away end could see it, why didn't the flaming officials see it? Because they wanted Bellamy of the pitch.

It would be funny if Clattenberg has put in his match report that he made a mistake booking Bells for diving.

I think that this actually goes deeper than just a bad refereeing decision though.

He's questioning the integrity of Clattenberg as he 'allegedly' said at half time that he didn't like him,
and low-and-behold off he is sent...this could have serious implications.

No fuckin wonder he's questioning the integrity of Clattenburg.

Feb 2009 Clattenburg suspended due to betting irregularities. The suspension was lifted cos the FA couldn't prove it involved Clattenburg.

well I never knew that...

Hughes was correct to say what he did knowing that the FA would ask for please explain.

What Clatty has to answer is whether his comments attributed to him about Bellamy a short while before he sent him off were correct and if so why he said them and why he should not be disciplined as such.

The same scrutiny to managers should apply to officials despite a lack of quality officials in the game at present.

Of course we all know the game is too quick for a single ref and his assistants to make decent decisions without the help of video technology but if the game is to remain video free then refs need better training, better resources outside video to limit the almost weekly criticism they justifiably get in the main from managers when interviewed.

Failing that ban the interview of managers for good.
