Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has reiterated his side’s desire to win the FA Cup after their fourth round victory over Fulham.
A third-minute penalty from Ryan Giggs, followed by a second-half strike by Wayne Rooney and a Javier Hernandez brace was enough to render Aaron Hughes’ 77th-minute effort a mere consolation for the visitors, as Manchester United marched on to the fifth round.
United have not lifted the prestigious trophy since 2004 when they beat surprise package Millwall 3-0 at Wembley and Ferguson insists it is a fact both he and his players are intent upon changing.
‘The FA Cup is an important trophy for us this season. We haven’t won it for 10 years. Rio Ferdinand has never won an FA Cup medal, so we need to do something about that,’ said the Scot.
‘The four strikers we had in 1999 were fantastic players but we have four now who are equally as good. If we can get three or four players around the 20-goal bracket then we’re in business.’
And United veteran Giggs supported his manager’s view.
And yet when we beat them in the semi final in 2011 Baconface said "we will just have to go and win a proper trophy then"
As always, if they win it its important, anyone else does it means nothing.
Part of their inbred arrogance.
